K9 Leo and his partner were responding to a domestic disturbance call when a suspect opened fire on police. Leo attacked the suspect to protect the officers and was shot in an area unprotected by his bullet proof vest. Despite several days of intensive care, Leo passed.
Today Marion County is holding a full, formal police memorial for K9 Leo. Arched fire ladders with huge flag hung from the center, K9 and police units from all over, mounted units…dunno about bagpipes but a real deal cop funeral.
