Kansas City MO/Columbia MO - places to ride/board?

I’m potentially going to be moving to the middle of nowhere Missouri, and I’m trying to get a little insight on what my options would be for my horse and also to continue my riding education.

I ride primarily HJ but am very interested in dressage as well.

I’ll be located directly between KCMO and Columbia MO.

Thanks!

The stronger HJ and Dressage options will be in KC. Columbia has some schooling shows, and more event trainers than HJ or Dressage. I would review these sites for ideas. http://www.kcdressage.com/ http://kcpha.org/

I do not know much about Columbia, but KC, yes. Are you going to be at Whiteman AFB in Warrensburg, or what town exactly between those 2 cities you mentioned.

sdlbredfan, Sedalia or Marshall, unfortunately. Thanks for the link NJRider!

I don’t want to be negative, but unfortunately is the right term…there are a few fledgling English riding groups there but if you have any experience you will find some good quality options in KC.

You’ve probably already done the Google thing, but here are a few links I found that might help:
Ask the folks at the William Woods Univ Equestrian Studies dept for input:

It looks like Marshall, Boonville and Columbia will have more options than Sedalia.

I found some in or near Marshall.

this next one is more geared toward the KC area but there may be some useful information in it for you:

Thank you thank you thank you!

I do not mind driving in to KC if I HAVE to, but… you know.

There’s Columbia Equestrian Center.

This article just appeared on my Facebook feed, features a Trakehner breeder and some Saddlebred folks: http://columbiabusinesstimes.com/23645/2014/08/25/horse-country/

Here are a few others:
www.runfoxrun.biz/ Beautiful facility (as good as is looks in the pics). Personal experience with one of the instructors listed (on Calendar page), PM for details. About 8 miles north of Columbia.

www.thesunnyoakfarm.com Not fancy (no indoor), but a decent no-frills operation with knowledgeable owner/instructor. About 10 miles west of Columbia.

www.riverwoodsfarm.com Looks nice on website, but don’t know much else about it. About 10 miles west of Columbia.
