I think we can now categorically say do not lease your mare to anyone else. This is horrible. I cannot imagine how this is going to work out with the foals, either, but it will take money I guess.

FYI, the ârumorsâ are flying that KOâs new partner in crime is a person named Tres Delaforce who is also reported to be a bad apple. Apparently, KO is now thinking about switching to the TB business âwhere people donât have such extreme attachments to their horses.â
Anyone know more about this? Apparently Tres Delaforce was arrested and convicted of theft by possession in Kentucky 2012.

I own Poppy and leased her to Kate. She turned nasty when I tried to ask for her back and bad mouthed me here on COTH. Also a Trak mare is there that I got from a lady I respect so much. Please let me know what is happening huntervalefarm@gmail.com. I have paperwork on the mares. Thanks

She has been active the last few days on facebook. Mostly just poor me posts trying to paint herself as a victim and trying to gain sympathy!

According to Wendyâs FB page, Kate has given up Zena and sheâs now the property of David Wright and with a friend of his in KY. 
I want to publicly thank Kate Ostermeier for allowing Embraceâs Dam, Zena, to join him at Hunterâs Court in Tenn. Zena is now the property of David Wright, and is currently in the care of his good friend in Ky. Thankyou, Kate, for your wonderful change of heart. I will repay this kindness with kindness.

And at what price? What terms were demanded for this exchange? Kate doesnât give anything without getting what she wants. There is a lot more going on with this entire situation than anyone outside of this can even imagine. Myself I donât betray others when theyâve treated me fairly, nor their wishes, or their rights. I think that this situation has more than a few legal ramifications that Wendy did not think through. So sorry, glad your mare is placed with your friends, but you sold the store with the goods so to speak. Sleep well.
You know, on second thought, if Kate didnât get your agreement in writing and your mare is removed - then you are free to do exactly as Kate does in these situations!! And if you did get the agreement in writing that would be super!!
I want to see it. I think thatâs called intimidation and blackmail.
I donât see KO going anywhere near a courthouse voluntarily so I donât think I would be too worried about legal ramifications. Glad the mare is safe, hope the rest of them are shortly.

You know, it sucks to have to âmake niceâ with someone like Kate however⊠I donât think it would sit right with anyone for Zena to be paying for taking the high road. Thankful she is out of there, and in a safe place. I am sure youâre overjoyed, Wendy.

The purpose of this thread was to warn people about KOâs business practices. Donât lose sight of this. The agreement that she forced on Wendy is a big example of how Kate views the world and how she manipulates and controls people.
People become helpless when the animal is held hostage. It is so sad when animals are involved and their rights arenât protected by the law. This case clearly illustrates this. Thank God itâs one more horse out of there, but it is far from done.

What happened may not be everyoneâs business, but other people were very much affected (not just Wendy) in her dealings with Kate. I wonât share more than that right now because what is done is done. We are all VERY glad that Zena is safe and in great hands now, but please donât downplay the situation and what took place to make that happen if you werenât someone affected by the dealings. It is important to point out that Kate is manipulative and [edit] to get what she wants⊠She made certain requests of Wendy in order for this release to happen. Wendy is being a much bigger person than Kate by sticking to her word. That doesnât mean those of us who know what happened canât bring light to the situation and show it for what it is.

I think this bares repeating. Thank god Zena is safe, but Kate still thinks she is untouchable and is still trying to control the situation. This is exactly how she has gotten away with things for so long. We arenât going to let that happen this time.
Agreed. I was disgusted with Kate this entire time, but I always try to think thereâs some sort of extenuating circumstance when this stuff happens⊠Not that they have no empathy for their animals. To hold an older, barren mare hostage to take advantage of her loving owner? What a horrible person. Changed the whole situation, IMO, to something undoubtably sinister.
