A poster on another forum knows the buyer and said they are hoping for a filly but will keep and race the offspring regardless of what sex it is. The mare will then be retired to their farm.

Nice end to her story, kind of them to take the old gal on. Hope the foal meets their expectations.

I didnā€™t realize she was also the dam of Paynter. Great family to invest in even if she is approaching/in her golden years. I did see a photo of her in the ring and she looked incredible for her age. Beautiful mare.

Great story all around for Tizso. Good on the new owner for doing right by her and welcoming her into their farm-family to live out her days. May she have a healthy final foaling this spring

Nice Astern colt. I also liked the Perfect Soul mare that sold for 6K.

What a lovely City Zip mare. The market seems really rough.

Mentally Unstable, in foal to Tapiture; hammer price 4K. She seemed OK to me.

On day finished. Looked at about 20 horses. And true to form , we ended up buying one that hadnā€™t been on our radar. Hip 1349. Thankfully, our track vet is with us so we get her to check the repository on a momentā€™s notice, and run her hands over them.

Have another 12 to check/recheck tomorrow, so may end up with another. And possibly a broodmare. We shall see. I am travelling with enablers.

Congratulations on your new filly, and best of luck tomorrow!

We arenā€™t shopping at the sale, but we had the great good fortune to win a season to Darley stallion Astern (AUS) at their open house. So itā€™s been a good week for us too.

@mht Remember weā€™re expecting photos of the new acquisition

@LaurieB congrats on winning the Astern season! You planning on rebreeding to the same mare as Zing (or do I have Race and Zing backwards?) or to one of your other mares?

Thank you. Weā€™re still deciding what works.

Congrats! Very exciting - good luck with the rest of the sale!
On another note, arenā€™t enablers the best? I am an expert level enabler, so if you ever need one at another time, just PM me.

This is so cool! Congrats LaurieB!

Thank you! We were delighted. I never win anything, so this was a good way to start.

Well, that was a pretty disastrous sale for sellers. Nobody wants to buy mares, because few people can afford the current costs of being a breederā€“especially when the only place profits are being made is at the very top of the market. The foal crop has been dropping steadily since 2008 (currently down 45%). All indications point to that trend continuing for the foreseeable future.
