Hip 2341 Complexity - Auspiciously
Not from one of the big name consignors but a super balanced pretty filly
Hip 2337 Maclean’s Music - Appearance
Handsome colt, nice mover. Kind of looks like he has turf hoof in the video. nice big feet
Turf hoof?
I had one pop up in my Facebook memories the other day that sold for something like $1.5 million a few years back.
Looking at his race record, he had only one start, for which he earned the princely sum of $200. Oof.
Her sire is listed as Good Magic in the catalog, not Gun Runner.
She’d need to have excellent conformation as well as pedigree to be in the first three books, so, not surprising. Still, book four isn’t bad.
Not seeing the “super balance” that you’re seeing there, but she is pretty.
One of the more famous expensive duds was a colt named Snaafi Dancer, who sold to Sheikh Mohammed for $10 million in 1982. Forty years later it would be the equivalent of having one go through the ring for $30 million, give or take. Northern Dancer out of a mare who had already thrown an Eclipse award winner and another G1 winner.
He went to the UK for training, and was allegedly so slow on the gallops that it was decided to send him directly to stud because racing him would probably embarrass the pants off of everyone associated with him. And he turned out to be sub fertile.
It’s always a gamble when so much money is spent on youngsters. There have been a few famous examples (the Green Monkey as well) but there are many more that have never lived up to the price people put upon them.
Don’t understand what you think is a “turf hoof” either.
What do you mean by that?
I think she is very uniform.

Some of these American Pharoah babies need the neck fairy
That one actually looks very similar to one I owned many years ago who was by Sir Thomson.
Interesting, thanks.
A friend of mine said he usually predicts which ones want to be turf horses by their family lines, which I guess would make sense if they are throwing the same kind of feet on the babies.
“Turf foot” is an interesting theory by a racing analyst, not a study, just one person’s theory.
whatever you say captain. its a frequently used term. theory or not. there is a lot of theories.
Is it just me or is the Keeneland site not as user friendly as FT is?
Looking up results is a PIA in general.
Trying to find out buyers on a horse that RNA’d, but I keep getting an error when trying to bring up the sales search function.
Looking for info on hip 909.
I looked up hip 909, and you’re right he was an RNA (for 185K). He has not sold privately since, so there are no buyers to list.
