Another photo of this horse killer! Spread her face all over!!!
This entire story makes me sick!
If Kelsey is found guilty, I believe that she is truly a reprehensible human being, and should serve time in prison so that she may contemplate what she has done. And, I do believe karma has a way of catching up with people like this.
I plan to post and post, and post this everywhere, so that people are aware of her and avoid her. Ahhh, the power of social media!
What a horrid human being I am all to aware of the dealings that are made in dark alleys and said in hushed words but to be so brazen and such a C@#@!
I hope the next horse she touches kicks her square in the kisser.
Karma is a truly wonderful thing hackinaround! And of course, I never would pass judgement on anyone before they have been convicted in a court of law. However - if the silly cow is found guilty - well, then - I have no problem hoping that she pays the price!
Oh my lord. Wow. You promise good homes and then hand them over to the kill buyer. Scre you, rot in prison b!-€h because its what you deserve.
Evil, evil, evil little girl. Hope what goes around, comes around. I’ve shared this far and wide.
And kudos to CANTER’s Allie C. on a thoughtful response.
and let’s not forget how much blame goes to all the OWNERS of these horses who were content to pass their problem (the horse) along to someone else.
Remember, this chick did not promise to keep the horses forever – she just said she’d find a better home for them.
Effort, research, investigation, etc. is required if you are re-homing an animal – even if all that effort goes to researching the actual “rescue.”
Personally, I think ALL so-called rescues (of horses, dogs and cats etc) should be licensed and/or identified by some “official” branch of the government…there has to be some way to separate the wheat from the chaff even when it comes to rescues…out my way there are just as many crooked ones as there are legit ones…

From Canter’s FB page,
“We have heard every vile story in the book over the past 15 years.
We have had women who borrow disabled children from neighbors to obtain “therapy horses”, only to sell them to New Holland or straight to slaughter.
We have had countless people show up asking for “4H horses”. (I, for one, have never met a 4H’er looking for a horse)
We’ve heard the “camp horse” angle.
We’ve heard the sick daughter angle and her dying wish is a horse of her own.
We’ve heard the “we’re really broke but will give him a great home!” angle.
We’ve just heard it all, and sometimes it’s hard to remember that not everybody has. Please tell any person you know at the track, any person you know with horses, that these people are out there, and they are out there in droves.”
In 1973, I worked as an assistant riding director at a camp in the Poconos. The riding director, who was another girl perhaps just a year older than I was, called me a week later after the end of camp. She had accompanied the horse dealer who supplied the horses, as he trucked them away. It turns out that rather than returning to his farm outside Philadelphia, they headed north to Canada. I believe all but 2 or 3 “favorites” made the trip. IIRC, at the end of the summer we had almost 40 horses. Granted many weren’t Thoroughbreds, but any time I read anything slaughter related, I am taken back to that day with that phone call, and memories of that evil SOB horse dealer. That was certainly the beginning of my growing up and realizing what kind of monsters were out there.
There has got to be some kind of system that can be used for identifying, and keeping track of retired racehorses.

You’re absolutely right. Tracks (or the state licensing associations) could identify legitimate rescues, and perhaps institute a policy that has no penalty for owners/trainers sending their horses to the identified rescues. Any others who buy their horses, they will be responsible if later found at slaughter regardless.
I agree what this woman has allegedly done is shocking. I also agree with programs for policing rescues better.
But what I’m not wrapping my head around is this. Why when TB people seem to be doing more in general do you want people penalised so heavily in racing only. Of course things should be better checked into, but for cripe sakes slaughter is not an exclusive TB issue. Lots of sporthorse people sell on problems. How about banning them from competition. Why do we believe their excuses of “well I thought it was a good home.”
There seems to be an awful lot of this mentality around here lately. Why is it this way. I don’t see any other sport or breed trying to protect the horses as much as I do in racing. Yet any breeder and or owner who does not do the equivalent of an FBI background check before selling or who chooses not to keep “problem” horses is raked over the coals and can have their life ruined. Yet the person who gives away the unsound failed hunter is ok because they’ve gone to a “forever” home. It’s to the point now in which it would be safer to just put horses down after racing. Even if their sound because basically if after 2 years in a new home in which they may end up hurt or just in bad circumstances, you can still have your life wrecked.
I am in no way defending scum like this woman. But ironically if she chose QH’s or ex competition horses ect no one would know she existed. An acquaintance of a friend contacted me recently to know if I had pics of a certain stallion in his racing days. Seems she has a full TB mare by him with Oldenburg papers. She pulled her out of a killpen. Why don’t we find that breeder and make his/her life hell for not doing more to ensure that horses future for the rest of her life.
I know this will be taken completely ass backwards but I hope someone will get what I’m saying.

I get it and agree 100%.
I say someone needs to tatoo “horse killer” on her forehead for the rest of the world to see forevermore! Anybody got a dirty needle and some ink?
There was a similar woman doing this at Finger Lakes years ago and this was why the women Dr. Ohlinger, P. Shetron and V. Morrison started the adoption program there. The NY woman didn’t do this on the scale that the PA woman has done but she was prosecuted for it.
Terri, I totally get what your saying, however, sometimes even those with the best of intentions still find out their horses have met with a nasty end. It’s totally different when you sell or rehome a horse and a few years later find out something bad happened. I believe the former owners should not get the blame, you lose control over your horse once they are sold on.
When we left racing I did the very best I could to make sure the horses that we had to sell went to decent people. I took 4 of them home to my farm, reschooled them as show horses to give them the best chance possible for a great life once I sold them. Two are still with me, and will be for the rest of their lives.
We had an owner that took his 4, and I shudder to think what happened to them, they went to a not so great place and after running once or twice fell off the radar. I know one mare he kept as a bm, but got a sketchy response on the others. Totally out of my control, and the breeders that bred them.
While I agree that owners bear some culpability, it is important to remember that this woman has been charged with fraud and multiple other felonies. She distributed promotional items (pens, magnets) with slogans promoting ex-racehorses, and talked a good game about rehoming them. She’s in her early 20’s, is pretty and spoke knowledgeably about OTTBs - most of use would have frankly been suckered I dare say, including myself.
Some late night obsessive, anger-fueled googling on my part suggests that she’s active in the PA horse scene and therefore could really walk the talk. She showed up in search results as the owner/trainer of some ponies that competed at various events, and was recently hired (and immediately let go) by a sport horse outfit as a trainer.
She had a system - a criminal enterprise - designed to dupe people into giving them their horses, no strings attached. It worked, like a charm, better than 120 times.

Where was the report that she was actually charged? I must have missed it.
