Kennel/business name help.

Looking for ideas for a kennel name. This will be the name that will be tied to any/all dogs associated with said kennel. It will also be the name used on my business page.
I can’t use something already being used. Looking for something unique, but not outlandish. Easy to remember, but not common.

Breed of dogs is Labradors, breeding will follow the breed standard. NO DILUTES.
They will be show quality/English type. However I’ll also be promoting their natural hunting instincts as well.
Dogs will be shown & used for hunting sheds. Those suitable will also be used as therapy dogs at my local nursing & retirement home.

I live in an area known for its history of iron & copper mining. It’s also in the middle of BFE lol.
Up north, northwoods, God’s country, are a few of the references people give when talking about the area.
We get 4 seasons & winters can be brutal, but fall is always breathtaking views.

Things about me… I am a voracious reader of everything from the classics to latest best-sellers, love puzzles/mind teasers, enjoy being outdoors, I’m Irish.

I do currently have a kennel under which I raise, train & compete my GSDs.
Eisenberg GSDs. Loosely translates to Iron Mountain (my home town).
My hubby is the main person dealing with the Labs & we’d like a separate kennel name for them.

So with all that said… any ideas?

Ironside Kennel

Thanks Bluey. I like it.

I also love playing on words.
So incorporating synonyms or similar words to top-notch, great, hunter, loyal, world beater, chilly(as in cool as a cucumber)… etc.

or playing off of the original uses of the breed itself, helping bring in the fishing nets, keeping the fishermen company, bringing in the downed waterfowl, etc…

Copperwood Kennel
Copar Kennel (Irish/Gaelic for copper, acc to Google Translate)
Copar Labradors
North Madra Kennel (Madra is Irish/Gaelic for dog)

I love these naming threads. I’ll think some more…

Are you far enough north to see the Northern Lights?

Aurora Labradors?

Latitude Labradors?

Borealis Labs?

Sinjon.

Yes I get to see them sometimes.

Thank you!

Sounds like a wonderful business venture! Had a couple name ideas myself…

  • Arcanis Kennels, Delta Kennels, Timberland Kennels, Woodland Grove (insert kennels or whatever you choose for remaining), Northern Highland, Mountainside, Iron Heights, Hillside, Hunter’s Summit, Iron Legacy, Silver Arrow, Aurum Hounds, Iron Isles, Irish Gold, Northwoods, Orion, Dogwood, Hunter’s Choice, Huntsman, Sabre, Sparrow Hill, Alistair, Copper Hills, Aura

I think it needs something to identify your ‘product’ so when people Google 'Labrador puppies" your kennel will show.
i.e. Ironwood Labradors, as in Eisenberg GSD’s.

Aw I was going to say Copperwood. I stink at this type of thing but think you got some great ideas.

I agree. It’s hard when so many of the towns already have names based on the areas history.
Such as Ironwood… It’s the name of a nearby town.

I’m hoping I’ll eventually figure out a name that incorporates the history of the breed & this area.

any ideas are great! they all help

Belle Isle (for the Strait of Belle Isle)
Happy Valley
Montagne de Fer? (or Fermontagne Labradors?) (may not be correct; I don’t know French)

I liked a few of those you have suggested, some of which are already in use for other kennels, so I can’t use them :frowning:

I like Keel Ridge Labradors.
Keel Ridge is the name of one of the mines that use to be operational in our town.

I was also playing around with using letters from our names trying to come up with something not too quirky LOL
A few possibilities…

Using our names/letters together, without scrambling them…
Trirand
Trindy
Ranish
Triranken

Scrambling letters of our names to come up with new words…
Adris, from Irish origin meaning fervent/passionate
Indra, Hindu warrior of sky & rain
Rankin, Irish origin

Nothing really jumps out at me just yet, but I have a couple months to ponder LOL

I like Keel Ridge.

I’m not as fan of the scrambled name kennels; it’s pretty common in my breed and a lot of them are goofy. On occasion someone has a really good combination, but not usually. It’s better if it doesn’t look like your names e.g. Adris.

Any generic mining terms that might work?

Thinking that if we decide on Keel Ridge Labradors, then we’ll probably incorporate mining terms & phrases into their names.
