So far I’ve been unable to find a video of Cafe Pharoah’s race.

They both sound impressive indeed.

Wouldn’t it be crazy if American Pharoah not only had a derby winner in his first crop, but it was one who shipped from Japan??? Just a fun thing to dream about…

Yes, it is. I wish I could find a video of his race. It sounds well worth watching from the description they gave.

Pharoah has actually had several dirt winners in Japan. Oddly, it seems like the opposite from here, where many of his North American offspring have been turf-oriented.

I did see a replay of Cafe Pharoah. Very impressive. He came from behind, but obviously still had more left in the tank; the jockey wasn’t in flat-out give me your last ounce mode. Looked a bit green. Still a work in progress but a promising one.

Here’s a video of the race: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_V_CFPqJcg&feature=youtu.be

Café Pharoah is #3 and the jockey has on a red cap.

Oh wow! Thank you very much for the link! What heart he has, and he pricks his ears, just like his sire did, at the end of the race.

Lots unrelated horses prick ears at the finish after great efforts as well. It’s a good sign, not too tired to care.

I’m aware of that. I noticed in that race he shared that behavior with his sire, not that they were the only ones that do it.
