Kentucky Derby 2011

When will the actual race be? Not a fan of this pre-race stuff…

I have about 45 minutes to the race by my figures. Going to watch just the race due to work hecticness.

Is the track still fast?

ETA: You can check www.kentuckyderby.com for a race countdown right at the top of the page.

Twinspires, if you have an account, has nice views too of the horses, & they show things a tad earlier than NBC. Luckily I have a large monitor, so it is easy to view multiple windows & sites at once.

That segment on Kathy Rivkin (sp) was amazing.

Agreed.

Pony horse acting up with race horse being calm!

Reporter on horse with hat but NOT BUCKLED. Either wear a hat or don’t, but don’t pretend to wear one!

WOO HOO Go John!

ANIMAL KINGDOM takes it!

loaded on the ambulance :frowning:

Who was that guy they interviewed who said, “I was tired of trainers lying to me”? That was a pretty interesting thing to say on live tv!

By Brazilian bred miler out of German damline trained by an English dude in Maryland, and with no prior starts on dirt… love it!!!

Saddle slipped, good grief. He walked onto to the ambulance with no distress so that is good. I am always relieved when there are no breakdowns. It used to be I never expected that, but no more. Congratulations to Animal Kingdom and the connections! Really sweet look on that horse’s face and you had to love Barry Irwin’s comment when asked why he changed to Graham, “I got tired of the liars”! hahahahaha

What was the deal with their pads? They looked huge and sloppy and I said to my husband that I wonder if a saddle would slip (knocked wood)…and archarcharch did :(.

That was the winner’s trainer!!

Team Valor founder, Barry Irwin. TeamValor.com I have to say I have always thought he has conducted all the partnerships with great integrity. He has a great eye for a horse. They pay nicely for horses, but never outrageously over the top. A win win for the industry as a whole.

Excellent! I hope all the lying trainers know who they are.

Good on Team Valor and Animal Kingdom. Hope it’s a nice boost for Maryland racing. As was noted all week the horse looked physically magnificent and strong, and surface, shmurface - he’s fine on anything.

I’m actually rather sad about Dialed In. :frowning:

MMM - neat horse.

Archarcharch reported to have a lateral condylar fracture that is not life threatening.

I LOVE MMM even more now. He looked incredible in the walk over and post parade, and what a great finish. He reminds me alot of Eddington from a few years ago, and I think he’s going to be a really, really solid horse for the rest of this year and the next. And he couldn’t be with a better person.
