“Favorite” at 6-5 is “All other 3 year old colts and geldings”.
Second favorite at 5-1 is Life is Good, who raced only once. Won that race, a Maiden Special Weight, easily, but still…second favorite over stakes winners?
My opinion only… Life is Good may be picking up some ‘extra’ votes just because the trainer is BB. When I watched Life is Good’s single race, a MSW, my first thought was nice win. My second was will Life is Good be in the gate for the Derby. Seems to me lately that BB has a nice stable of 2YOs going into their 3YO season and then that nice stable seems to get whittled down…
Me? At this early stage of the game, I’d be looking at Essential Quality. Brad Cox is on fire (now). Essential Quality is 3 for 3 at Keeneland and Churchill Downs including the BC Juvenile win. A bit more ‘substance’ in his current race record.
Don’t have any other real ‘favorites’ just yet.
Time will tell.
FWIW, in the ‘Road to the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve’ leaderboard, Essential Quality with 30 points is #1 while Jackie’s Warrior is now #2 with 12 points.
Life is Good??? Hasn’t run in a points race yet…
