Kentucky Three Day Entries?

I can’t seem to find an entry list for Kentucky this year. And the website has a lot of information from last year…am I looking in the wrong place?!? It seems odd that entries aren’t up yet!

I haven’t seen one yet but I know MJ and Julia K are supposed to be coming!

I’ve been looking but couldn’t find one. Badminton entry list is released, and Badminton is a week later. Not sure why we can’t find one for KY yet.

It just closed today. So list should be up shortly after

I’ve been thinking the same the past few weeks. I feel like they usually put out entries prior to closing date. I’m waiting not so patiently :joy:

I think I’m surprised to not see Oliver Townend on the 5* entry list. Also surprised to see Tami Smith and Mai Baum - weren’t they going to Badminton?

There a few that are also entered in Badminton. Guessing those already in Badminton will go there and those on waitlist are using KY as a backup plan. Excited to see Pippa back over! I have loved her YouTube videos she has been putting out.

I of course have to root for my Trakehners… Tsetserleg TSF and Vandiver!

Looks like a great 4* list too!

I was surprised to see Jonelle but no Tim.

And because it’s always my interest, I think I noticed 8 full TBs at cursory glance. A couple more I wasn’t positive on without pulling their pedigree.

Not a lot of entries compared to Badminton.

Per EN, Mai Baum will go to Badminton and Fleeceworks Royal will do Kentucky.

It’s a very small international field compared to usual – no Oliver, only one Price horse, etc. etc. I wonder why – it’s not close enough to Pratoni for it to be a real issue, but, it could be that all the Brits who are contenders for the World Championships have been told they have to run at Badminton, or something.

I imagine fuel costs are a factor right now.

I think a good result at Badminton is pretty much a must for the Brits wanting to hit WEG. Also because it didnt run for 2 years and they really need to support their 5 stars right now.

This is a good point. Anyone know what international horse shipping costs would be compared with earlier years?

I don’t know, but someone I know who was shipping by air domestically said the cost tripled. I imagine international would see the same thing.

Badminton is a goal of a lifetime destination for riders worldwide. I think Kentucky, on the other hand, is more like an easy paycheck for most of the European regulars. The ones coming surely have their reasons, but I imagine most would rather stay home and save the expense.

I read on Facebook (so you know grain of salt. and all…) that Team NZ didn’t offer any funding this year to come over, so that could explain only one Price horse, and no other kiwis from overseas

That would make a lot of sense, especially given the quick turnaround time from Olympics to WEG.

The paycheck will be much smaller if shipping costs are significantly higher. It would be much less affordable. And there is a chance the winnings don’t actually occur, of course. Plus the wear & tear on the horse of an overseas competition - I can see that it makes less sense this year.

Sad that many internationals won’t be there this year. But the flip side is that it opens more slots for American riders.

I don’t see Piggy?
