Wow. But they have their own clothing line, tack, etc. I bet they made bank here. That’s disappointing.
For the past few years, SmartPak has been owned by Covetrus. I know someone who used to work for SmartPak, and it seems like the parent company is doing some major cutbacks (Covetrus isn’t a horse company). I don’t know if that’s the reason.
I really miss the old SmartPak. Unbeatable customer service, and they still had a “small business” feel and seemed to have fun with it. The silly videos, putting effort into interactions with their customer base, etc …
Now it’s just another impersonal company that sells horse stuff.

They are apparently cutting back the marketing budget even more, and I would assume that would include appearances at major events. Lots of companies don’t make money at events, but go mainly to establish customer relationships and to raise their profile, and I guess that’s less important to the parent company now. (Note, this isn’t a slam against SmartPak specifically, but a comment on the parent company that now owns it.)
there is some interesting camera work going on. I notice this year when the camera starts moving in on the legs, it jumps to a different camera.

Shame, and sounds like he was expecting it wouldn’t be pretty, but tactfully managed. The horse is absolutely gorgeous; hopefully a better ride cross-country.
