Just watched JL Dublin walk by 2 feet in front of me as he heads back to the barns and he looks completely sound at the walk.
looked like she came down feet first, so easy to break an ankle or twist a knee.
Anyone know the time of the jogs tomorrow?
4* Jumping starts at 11
5* Jumping starts at 2
Philip is unorthodox and has been for the 25 years he’s lived here, but his horses have had extraordinary longevity in the sport with him, Sea of Clouds being an excellent example, one that is now being passed down to his daughter who is an exceptional rider.
He rides like a sack of potatoes
I missed the latter part of his ride. His horse seemed to be hauling along nicely when I last saw. Did he have a refusal or just get really tired and take a lot of long routes?
An interesting day at the 5* (and the 4* too).
(eta) 32 starters, 26 finishers.
TBs rocked!
Nothing that I would describe as carnage - actual refusals/glance-offs at various spots on the course. There was a stretch of 15 rounds from Malin Hansen-Hotopp to Tom McEwen where there was only one refusal.
PD’s fall at the last was very unfortunate. I think this will be the first time in a looong time we won’t see him on the US Olympic team. Glad he ended on a good note with Azure.
Also glad to see some of the more “seasoned” US pros have successful rounds - Buck, Sharon White, Bec Braitling.
The jumping tomorrow is going to be exciting! The trot-up may be as well…
Gotta go get me some potatoes
Anyone know how Honor Me is? I saw the fall and it looked bad but he walked off.
Also, can we not have this be a tech support thread for livestream? Maybe open a new one?
I paid but am constantly redirected to a clip my horse webpage that tells me I don’t have an account. It’s such a crappy service
I think Philip rode amazingly in the 5*. His first fall was just bad luck, and Azure’s round was beautiful. I would much rather see a horse galloping along on a long rein conserving energy and coming home looking fit as a fiddle.
I feel like the young German rider’s horse used up his energy overjumping in the beginning and that is what he was so exhausted. Sad because it was fun to watch early and I loved that horse, but then painful later.
I am so glad Dubs was walking well on his way to the barn! He was definitely head bobbing at trot but ended looking full of run at the canter. Tom let him trot about 4 steps then jumped off immediately, great horseman. I am very hopeful he’ll be fine tomorrow and there was absolutely not a way he would have felt off at the canter, it was mild but there. At most he might have felt what he was, a little tired. Could have banged a knee or stepped on himself or anything.
An outstanding horseman!
I am with ya Sista! Maybe then I can get to the Olympics!
Per the event schedule on the Ky3DE web site, both the 5* and 4* jogs will start at 7:30am Eastern. I am on the West Coast so… ugh. I assume they will be live streamed on Facebook, but I haven’t seen anything official to confirm that.
I’m sorry if this has been asked, but is there no way to watch the 5*'s cross country now if we didn’t catch it live? I have a USEF account and am logged in to CMH, but don’t see that as an option…
ETA: figured it out, but wow they don’t make it easy…
theoretically yes but i’ve been booted out of CMH literally every time I try to watch the replay so
I too have asked and tried to no avail…
I will step in for Ashleah to answer. Related to on demand coverage (like Thursday-Saturday of #K3DE)
USEF subscriber and competing members – can watch all USEF Network on-demand content.
USEF fans – Cannot view on-demand coverage. You will need to upgrade to a USEF subscriber membership ($25 per year) to view on-demand coverage. You do not need to upgrade CMH subscribing level, just USEF subscribing level to view on demand coverage.
Would be delighted to see that. Thank you!!
There’s an update from Philip that Quasi Cool is fine. He says he got to an awkward distance, asked for the longer one, but the horse was tired and tried to add up at the base and it didn’t work.
