Kentucky Three Day Event 2024

Really happy for Will–after having to withdraw Chin Tonic and some bad luck previous years at Kentucky, this was nice to see.

Will, Boyd, and Liz I think will be our team after this weekend. Some class riding by all three and each have at least 2 in the top 10. Depth for miles from them! I expect Caroline, Mia, Phillip, Jennie, and maybe Tamie to round out the short list.

Sharon White?

Just noticed that Ariel has withdrawn Leamore Master Plan before SJ. I would guess to save his legs.

Leaderboard confirms Sharon White is #26.

I think so

That’s why, as a pronunciation pedant, I switched to the German stream.
Decided I’d rather miss 65 percent of the crisp German woman’s commentary than be annoyed by 25 percent of the US commentary. True for dressage and x-c, too.

Yeah, I noticed it carried over to 5* too. Jon didn’t talk as much and yet it was never silent.

Would be nice if the production (that is still streaming) could include the stadium audio for the 4* awards ceremony.

I was just lookng at the results and Katie Malensek seems to have been eliminated in sj. I was watching, maybe not paying rapt attention, but what happened?

Meh … as someone whose name is mispronounced probably more often than not, I don’t get too worked up about the commentators messing up a pronunciation from time to time. I can see how the conversational style of commentary could be annoying if you’re wanting just an announcer that recites names and scores, but it’s really on par with American coverage in other sports and for casual fans of the sport it’s probably helpful to have a reasonably knowledgeable commentary explaining things

I think the commentary has been excellent throughout.

I mean, it’s Will’s horse! That’s how he pronounces it. Lots of horses have weird spellings and pronunciations of their names (obviously racehorses often do because of JC requirements).

That’s completely normal for showjumping saddles.

Good eye! Strange!

Oh OK. I hadn’t seen any others do that in today’s 4*. It caught my eye.
