Kerrits ice fil tights-another breeches topic

So since it has been heatwave after heatwave this year I need to update my summer tights. I have tons of breeches but one pair of summer weight tights. One of the pairs I tried were the Kerrits ice fil tech tights. Since they say ice-fil I figured they would be cooling and similar in material to my TS ice-fil shirts (which actually feel cool to the touch). These things feel thick and are almost fleecey on the inside, don’t feel like they would be cooling at all and wearing around the house also felt warm. They remind me more of a winter tight than summer. Anyone have these? Are they magically cooling or something when I’m actually riding or should I just return them and get flow rise or some other tight for the 90+ degree days.

I personally love the flow rise tights the most. I have the ice fil ones and sweat right through them, then they’re soaking wet and clammy and disgusting. The flow rise tights seem to evaporate better, somehow.

For hot weather, I used to be a big fan of the Tropical Rider Tropix tights. Truly comfortable.

Thats exactly what I’m worried about. The kastel sun shirts I have are kind of thick and a similar material on the inside and I use them as a baselayer instead of a sunshirt because they basically absorb my sweat and become heavy. This material just doesn’t seem wicking at all. Very disappointing, I would have loved pants that were similar to the shirts. Might swap them for the flow rise then, they’re cheaper anyway.

I recently got some Tuff Rider tights with the ventilation on the side. They are thinner than the Kerrits. So far, so good. I think the Kerrits cost too much for what they are.

I have a few pairs of the Kerritts. They do get wet but it’s not annoying like cotton would be. However, the silicon “carrots” are completely worthless. It’s like riding on plain fabric… so I choose my days to wear them.

I live in Phoenix.
I love the Kerrits Icefil shirts and wear them for any purpose were I will be in the sun, or at risk of it, riding or not.
I wear the flow rise tights year your and find them to be very comfortable, even when the temperature is a billion degrees Farenheit, or just feels like it.
Thanks for the tip! I have not tried the ice-fil riding tights, so I will stick with my uniform.

I had read some reviews where people said they were cooling despite not appearing to be but for $90 i wasn’t risking it. I sent them back and am exchanging for Ovation aerowick, which I also haven’t tried but they had nice colors lol, and are much cheaper. I had no issue paying $90 for tights but not if they didn’t seem to do what I wanted them to. The quality also didn’t wow me, and like lorilu said, the silicone kerrits didn’t seem like they would do much (or last very long either). Getting close to the $100 range is a lot for just tights so they should be on the nicer side at that price point imo.

I also got some of the horseware tights with the mesh, I haven’t ridden in them yet as my riding keeps getting cancelled due to heat. They seem nice, like basically nice workout pants, but the mesh is on the thicker side so I’m not sure how cool they will actually be, but they are comfortable either way.

Love my tropical riders, much cooler than the Kerrits Ice fil.

Dublin Cool It Gel tights. So comfy and cool, but yet the fabric is thick enough with enough compression that they don’t show every lump and dimple. They feel like running tights

are you sure you have the ice-fill tights? Kerrits makes so many different tight options its easy to grab the wrong pair. I have 2 pairs of Ice Fill and the fabric is SUPER thin and cooling. In fact is feel like it might be too thin (hellooooo lumps and bumps!) and wicks moisture away really well.

I have three pairs of Horseware tights, seriously the best most comfortable breeches for summer!!

I have several pair of the ice-fil tights, and recently bought 2 new pair - the jade ones are thick and have a fleece feel and felt like winter tights even though they were tagged and labeled as ice-fil. The platinum pair I bought were as thin as the ones I’ve purchased in the past and defintely feel like the normal, light ice-fil tight.

I ride western and bought a pair of ice fill tights and love them! My friends make fun of me when I trail ride, but I do stay cooler.
