Hello …wondering if anyone had any experience with Keyflow Feeds Pink Mash which is indicated for hind gut /digestive issues …or anything else from Keyflow
Looks like beet pulp and probiotics?
I’ve never had anything that would touch it! And I don’t have fussy horses.
Shame as I use other keyflow feeds and like them as a company.
Ok …that’s something to consider then for sure …I’m waiting for some samples
Apparently it’s micronized /extruded or “pre digested” and low sugar & starch …it’s also ECIR group approved /acceptable
I think regular beet pulp is also ECIR approved and is an excellent hind gut food.
Its possible it has some marginal benefits over a basic DIY beet pulp mash. But I already feed a beer pulp mash with freshly ground flax and a vitamin mineral supplement and have access to a fantastic probiotic from herbs For Horses in Canada should I need one.
I also add my flax and probiotics and VMS right before I feed so the hot water doesn’t degrade them. Here they are all in one pellet so you can’t
There is no price on this as it’s “sold out” but their other feeds look like $4O or more for a 50 lb bag?
For me this just looks like the "gourmet"cash grab version of a good useful economical DIY mash and I am amused but would never buy it.
Yes …it is quite pricey …$40 for Pink Mash and $43 for Pink Mash Condition
Ok Pink mash also has soy hulls and condition has rice bran.
These are the ingredients for a very decent low carb gut healthy etc mash that’s very affordable if you make it up out of seperate ingredients.
On a per day rate my priciest ingredient is my VMS and that’s not included in here. You’d still need to supplement there is no Vm fortifications here.
Beet pulp costs me about $15 a month. Flax has gotten very expensive and a daily cup of fresh ground flax is about $10 a month now. That’s Canadian dollars so reduce by 3O per cent in the American market.
They have a decent recipe but charging insane prices.
Yeah I agree …I wanted to get some reassurance that there’s not something magical here that I’m missing
I’m curious as I was looking at some of their other feeds which list beet pulp, beet shreds, or beetroot. Does anyone know if the beetroot listed in the Pink Mash is actually red beets, not sugar beet pulp? I guess that would make it pink.
Yes it is!
I love the Keyflow feeds! I feed SensiCare 2x a day and add Pink Mash Condition in the PM. I switched from Hygain Release (a feed I also really like) to see if it would help my worrier of a mare, the new horse who looked somewhat terrible when we bought him, and our 28 year old gelding. Almost immediately, all of our horses started looking completely different. It is pricey, but it has a lower feed volume, so worked out to be about the same as the Hygain (also not cheap…). I would recommend it, for sure. I’ve been feeding it about three months now. Our horses look better everyday, especially the 28 year old. He finally is gaining weight (after a solid year of trying to sort out why he was not looking better even eating an insane amount of feed). He is even back to light work now that he is filling out so well! We are stoked.
P.S. It is really pink.
Curious if you have a hyper vigilant mare? Curious if this feed would help mine.
She’s a lead mare, take care of everyone, and super committed to her job type of girl. She is hypervigilant but stays focused when she’s working so I can’t speak to that. She is absolutely wonderful from a riding and training perspective, but I do keep her on as stomach and hind gut friendly of a diet as I can. This feed regimen plus ulcer eraser really helps her to be comfortable.
