Kid-sized Western saddle in NW Indiana

Friend has 3 nephews - aged 18mos to 2yrs - going in the leadline class at Fair this year.
All ponies are accounted for, but they are short on tack.

Does anyone in NW IN have a kid-sized saddle they are willing to part with?
Western preferred for the grabbable horn.

Check wintec lead line saddles. Most saddles aren’t going to fit kids that small. Or they don’t fit the horse, if you can find one that fits the kids. English saddles often come in smaller sizes then western

Troyer’s Saddlery in Shipshewana has a huge inventory of used saddles. Nice people. Call and ask if they have what you want. They will ship. You can negotiate the price on used equipment.

@Foxglove I will be visiting friends in Orland & going to the Draft show at MEC Ctr in a couple weeks.
We can probably fit in a visit to Troyer’s.
TX for the tip!

@4horses One set of parents breeds Hackney Ponies so may have a Lane Fox-type saddle.
Still, no horn, but might be able to attach a grabstrap.

I’d buy you lunch in Shipshe (assuming it isn’t a Tuesday or Wednesday when the tourists jam the place). Troyers guys (gals too) would probably look at their stuff and tell you if there’s anything suitable --I was just there and THOUGHT I saw a small saddle --remember thinking, “How Cute.”

Let me know if you want to —of course you do know I’m not the 6’ blonde who looks 24 even though I’m close to 70 who rides like an Olympian --that’s just my on-line persona.

We arrive - Faux grandson & I - early Friday 6/28.
Draft show @ MEC starts at 10A.
We’ll stay there until most of the Draft 6-Hitch Round 1 is done. Starts at 5P.
Then we go to friends’ place in Orland to take them to dinner & spend the night.
We’ll be back at MEC at 10A Saturday for 2nd day of the show.
Admission is $10, $15 for both days.

I can PM my cell# (assuming MEC has service) and we can try for lunch either day.
Or if we go to Troyer’s, the restaurant next door is decent.

What a coincidence!
My online persona could be your twin!

2DogsFarm – you just answered all the Q I had in my message to you. Let me know once you are at the MEC if you can get out for lunch --Friday is better for me, but could make it work on Saturday.

You might check Craigslist for saddles. Will it be going on a big (13h) pony or horse or smaller pony to a mini? Tree size should fit the animal. Youth saddle title or description might help in a search or pony saddle title, to find smaller models. I had a youth saddle, 12" inch western seat, horse tree, for my small son and daughter. Used on a small western horse. Good size saddle from age 4 to about age 12 years. Suede seat helped with grip too. But saddle would have been way too big in tree and skirt size for a smaller pony or mini. Those should take a pony saddle size, not as cool, but have very short stirrups, horn, small seats and inexpensive.
