Yes, 9 weeks or so is great, 6 is way too early, better let the mother and other siblings start teaching bite inhibition, easier on the humans.
I got my puppy ten years ago at 11 weeks, sure helps with the housebreaking when they can hold it longer, just have to supervise a bit closer from the start, they are more into things then.
