Kieffer Trailer opinions

I’ve never owned a Kieffer trailer, and looking at a newer 4 h2h trailer. Thoughts on the brand? Good bad or otherwise.

One of my friends has a Kieffer. She has replaced the ramp and the back top doors…they sort of self destructed around the latches. The roof leaks badly and the tack room door won’t stay closed. I thought they were good trailers, but this one isn’t.

Do you know what year trailer?

No…it’s older. Maybe 2000 or so??? The doors and ramp were made w some kind of particle board that really did self destruct. The ramp failed first; Kieffer replaced that. She replaced the doors.

Kieffer changed hands in 2016, as I recall —sometimes there is a change in quality when one owner sells to a new owner. I haven’t any more information than that and have never looked closely at the “old” Kieffer or the newer ones. @NaturallyHappy refers to a 23 year old trailer needing some parts replaced --depending on how the trailer was used and stored, that would seem reasonable.

I think I would do a www search for the year and specific brand you are looking at --see what other trailers like it look like, and what they are going for.

@Foxglove - That’s a good idea. This trailer needed those repairs after about 5 years…. It doesn’t get much use and she takes care of it. She still has it…. It’s the only Kieffer I’ve ever met.
