awful

This makes me sick.

Horrible. Although I imagine it might have been an easier end than what they were headed for. Jingles for the remaining 17.

Is that a double-decker trailer? I thought those were illegal for horse transport.

Oh no.

I thought the same thing, but it looked to me like it may have been modified by taking out the top floor.

I don’t know who this O’Dwyer ASSHAT is but I sure hope he gets what’s coming to him.

As much as I want to believe this was a better ending than what the horses were headed for, the result was the same: the last feelings those horses had were fear and terror and no living thing should feel that ever let alone right before they die.

And BTW, anyone who thinks slaughter would be more humane if done here in the U.S. had better come up with a really good reason why they think transportation would improve…

The bottom line is no one involved in the horse slaughter industry cares about the horses before they are killed. NO ONE.

Surprised Jetsmom hasn’t posted on this, wonder if this was/is near her… but then Texas is a big state.

Everything you said.

I would like to take this post and PIN it on the forehead of every POS that drives horses to slaughter.

I know it would not change them, though I would GREATLY enjoy the pinning.

Well said, jenm!!

Just saw this. Not near me. But horrible. No way that 34 horses in a rig is humane. And before the resident pro slaughter people get on here and try to say that keeping them packed like sardines is safer,…if it was, we would be shipping show horses and race horses that way…BUT WE DON’T.

In the the year or two I’ve been on COTH, I’ve heard of these rigs catching on fire, freezing horses alive in some kind of ice-up event, breaking in two at least twice, and now another one runs off the road. Either these guys are running the most sketchy equipment imaginable, their management practices suck, or they’re so marginal they are just barely in business to begin with. I vote: All of the above.

The horse owners of America need to pass the SAFE Act: NOW.

Excellent post
