Does anyone know the reputation for temperament and rideability of the King of Diamonds offspring, more specifically the offspring of Flagmount King?
I love the reputation of the KOD line. nice temperaments and rideability. I’ve only heard good things about FK.

That’s what I thought, but I’ve never ridden or watched any of them in action in person. The only one I’ve met in person practically fell asleep with his head in my hands when I was petting him and he is a stallion and was standing in the middle of a barn full of mares!
I guess I’m just nervous about breeding my mare to a stallion that I’ve never ridden or watched go in person (yet).
My ISH Jumper’s dam is by Laughton’s Flight who is by King of Diamonds. I love love love this line!! My guy has a wondeful work ethic and is unbelievably athletic. He is definetly my once in a lifetime guy.
If I was going to breed a mare of mine without a doubt I would look for a Stallion with King of Diamond in his line. What stallion were you thinking about?
Flagmount King’s offspring seem to have a very good reputation. I have a 1/2 dose (2 of 4 straws) of his semen in my tank that I am holding for a deep horn insemination some day!

That’s good to hear. and It’s the Luck of the Irish by Flagmount King out of a pretty impressive Irish mare line (Maggie’s Last).

I have a grandson of Flagmount King (his sire is It’s The Luck of The Irish), and I cannot say enough good things about his disposition. He’s so sweet and level headed. Which is a good thing because apparently he didn’t read the memo that both of his parents are 16.2, as he’s pushing 18 hands right now ! :eek::eek::lol::lol:
I have 2 granddaughters and 2 great granddaughters of KOD by OLID. Absolutely can’t beat their temperment, rideability, trainability, gaits and jump. Bold but kind. Can’t beat that.

Wow, how tall are the parents/grandparents on the dams side?
My girl is only 15.2h so I’m thinking baby is gonna end up about 15.3 or 16.0h, but if he throws height then maybe bigger (which would be nice, but not the end of the world if it’s what I think). Of course there’s that whole theory that foals, especially the first born, only grow to the height of the dam. I’m not so sure, I like to look back through grandparents and great grandparents, which in my case doesn’t change anything cause they’re all 15.2 on dams side!

I have met a few King of Diamonds line and have one Double KODS via KEC Double Diamond. I would say that if you have a hot line that I would look to the KODs horses to make it less so pretty reliably also the Flagmount King semen is very good. His offspring are well known for being tru to the family and are very good jumpers. PatO

I have no papers for her… My guy’s older brother is 16.3 or so (by a 16.3 hand stallion), and younger (2 year old by a 17 hand stallion) brother is probably 15.3-16 hands already. She produced one other foal who was by a 17.1 hand RID, and I have no idea how tall he ended up being (I sold her in foal, then a couple years later ended up buying her back :uhoh::lol: )

My daughter recently bought a 3 year old who is by Playland Farm’s PL Diamond Hill. Her 3 year old is a delight. Today, we went trail riding together in a 3,300 acre park. He crossed creeks and bridges, and rode quietly at the walk and trot in our small group. This is only about his 8th time under saddle, so I thought she might be overfacing him by taking him out in a large scary place. He was great. Of course, he had my quiet, reliable, packer (an Irish Draught by Glenlara out of a King of Diamonds line mare) leading the way. We love Irish Draughts.

Hi there, I own an (almost) 4-year old son of Flagmount King out of a Dutch Warmblood mare. I might start gushing over him, he’s that good. He is a barn favorite, kind and gentle with my young children, falls asleep in cross ties, and gives “hugs” with his head. Talent wise, he has an outstanding canter (why I bought him) and has been very level headed with his training. I have very high hopes for his jumping ability (grand prix prospect?) as he jumps with ease, big and round. And the icing on the cake is that he is a head turner, very handsome and approx 17h. If I were a breeder, I wouldn’t hesitate. Hope this helps!
