Does anyone have experience with custom Kingsley boots? I had an absolute disaster of an order through Celeris custom boots; wrong size and wrong color. I really would like a custom pair under $1000 and I spent over an hour last night upon discovering the Kingsley site and their custom boot app. It looks like I will have to order and be measured through a shop in the US which is fine by me. How is the quality and customer service?
May I ask what you issue with celeris was? Did you order directly through Celeris UK? I have 4 pairs one pair I had a fit issue with (I did my own measurements) and they quickly rectified the situation until I was happy. They have the best customer service I’ve ever dealt with so I’m just curious what happened as I’ve recommended them to a lot of people.
I ordered using my measurements I took myself (won’t do that again) which I sent directly to them. They had me remeasure, and I had very similar measurements the second time. I was off by a few millimeters. I could stick my entire arm down the side of the boot that they sent me.
They offered to correct the sizing if I paid to ship them back but wouldn’t correct the color. They even had the nerve to tell me the colors I originally ordered wouldn’t have looked good. I asked them multiple times to fix it and sent screenshots of my emails and they refused so I filed a dispute with my credit card which I won. It was a huge chunk of money for me to spend, something I saved up for a year to buy and they treated me like trash. I was so disappointed. I was very excited and it was such a let down.
So now I am looking for a different company that will measure me in store and that offers different colors/designs.
Wow that is incredibly disappointing. I’m sorry you had such a poor experience. I’ve never tried Kingsley boots- but someone that I occasionally train with swears by them! I hope you have better luck this next go around!
I was able to try on a pair of Ariat Nitros from someone at the barn; they fit, the quality felt nice, and they were comfortable. So, I go and order a pair. Get them and they feel like crap, and aren’t even close to fitting in the foot or the calf even in the same size. For a $500 boot, I was sorely disappointed and sent them back. I have read discussions here that the quality has dropped and I can definitely confirm that. The boots the local tack shop stocks also didn’t impress me, esp with the price points, so I’ve been a bit torn on something a little more expensive that is semi/custom.
There is a Kingsley rep coming to a local show this upcoming weekend and I’m going for a fitting! Their entry level boot is $700ish so a bit more than I’d like to spend, but I’d rather have something that fits and lasts a while that I don’t have to go through the order and send back infinity cycle. I have heard good things about Kingsley boots, any recent reviews?
I love them. You can order through reps or size yourself.
Im always worried I’ll mess them up. My left calf is larger than my right one too so I want to make sure I account for that I’d like to try on a pair as well to see how they feel, I’m planning for dress boots which I’ve never worn before.
Different discipline but Dressage Boots Addicts Anonymous on FB is filled with peoples experiences & suggestions for boot companies. Dressage in the name but lots of dress & field boots from the mfrs., too.
I have a couple pairs of Kingsley’s. One paid with laces up the front, and the other with an elastic panel- great when your legs are slightly different sizes. I had an issue with one of the zippers, but basically really pleased with them.
The Dressage Boot group popped up (I am looking to get dress boots) and I have been reading a lot there! Definitely a lot of good Kingsley posts. The Kingsleys seem to be pretty well received and I asked my trainer about them last night and she had the same impression. I’ve never had a truly nice pair of boots, let alone something in the custom realm so I’m excited to feel the difference.
I just got a semi-custom pair of Kingsleys!
I’m friends and used to ride with the local rep, so had her do a fitting after I’d been playing with the online boot designer. One of my calves is almost a cm wider than the other, so we talked through the options, and ended up going semi-custom to get the fit/height I needed. They’ll do just straight off-the-rack sizing, semi-custom, or full custom; I forget the exact price difference for each, I want to say it was something like an extra $75 for semi.
Mine aren’t anything too crazy as I wanted them as show boots–just the Jenny top in black croc and hunter piping. Price was about what I’d have paid for higher-end off the racks, and these are a thicker leather than those super-soft trendy Italian boots, but I liked that, as they’ll last longer that way. Came in just about a month, broken in enough in under a week to show in them yesterday.
I definitely want another, crazier pair for schooling now.
I got a pair of Kingsley demo boots from the aforementioned FB group and love them. Thick, quality leather. Mine are polished black with crocodile tops.
