Kirkland nature's domain complaints of dogs getting sick - would you be worried?

There are a ton of complaints about dogs getting sick from this Costco food bought in Nov/ Dec. I’m just about to open a bag we bought in mid dec and second guessing if it’s bad enough I should rotate in something else while I still have some of the current bag to mix.

Kirkland even posted saying there is no issue on FB but I don’t want to risk it.

Curious what others would do…

Also know a lot of people here use this food.

I feed Nature’s Domain salmon/sweet potato and saw the same thing from ConsumerAffairs.com on FB. Almost all their dog food reviews have the same thing - otherwise healthy dog(s) switched to XXX brand now sick, vomiting, diarrhea… And I didn’t see any where a vet confirmed it was caused by the food. So even if I switched food, I am not sure which one I would switch to. We go through about one bag/month, so I bought/fed bags in Nov and Dec without incident. I am almost out, so I am probably going to Costco to get another bag, and keep an eye on my pup, just in case.

Costco has a page on their website for official safety and recall notices: Costco Recalls Since this is one of the more responsive companies for issues like recalls, this would suggest there is no documented problem. Of course, individual animals may still have problems with particular foods without it being a product-wide issue.

A bit of quick Googling on Consumer Affairs did not do much to make me think they are a legitimate organization. Much like Yelp, they post bad reviews and hide the good ones unless the business pays thousands of dollars to become a “member”.

Huh. I bought my current bag in Dec. No issues knock on wood.

I have 3 dogs on it and my parents 4. I work at a large ER clinic near a Costco. I have never seen or heard of any issues.

I read the link and the issues the claim the dogs had are all symptoms of many things I see everyday…usually caused by Cancer, liver dz, and things more sinister then the dog food.

Have fed it for several years now, to 3 dogs, with absolutely no problem. I am perfectly comfortable continuing to feed it.

I run a rescue in South Florida and Nature’s Domain Salmon and Sweet Potato has been our base food for a number of years. I buy several bags per month and have not noticed any issues. Although there are better foods out there, I think it is the best food for the money and certainly better than anything that can be bought in a grocery store and better than most that can bought at a pet store. They handled a recall that happened a couple of years back well and I continue to be impressed about the way Costco stands behind what they sell.

Eek, my senior girl eats this and I hadn’t heard about any issues. We LOVE the food and she does, too - been on it for at least a year and a half. I can’t remember when I got the last bag but knock LOUDLY on wood, she’s perfectly fine… so I think I won’t worry. I need to check this Forum more often though!
