Konig Favorit Boot Fit - are these too big?

What is your preference on the fit when you first get new boots? These are off the shelf Konig Favorit’s

I took my measurements and found out that i have really short, fat calves. 40 cm calf - the right one, the left is a little smaller. Size 7.5 foot (US). 43 cm boot height.

So i got my boots today. the foot is a little roomier than i thought, but i can add a squish insert and be fine which is what i wanted anyway, i dont know that going down a foot size would be wise.

My question is the calf…so when i measured i did it in the evening, which is when i usually ride- with my breeches and socks on. my calf is always fatter in the evening. It was a little over 40.5 cm at the time of measurement.

But now here i am with my breeches and socks on and i’m thinking - well this is not nearly as painful as people say. i can zip 'em up and it wasn’t a struggle for the zipper AND i can feel my calf and foot lol. Too easy?

My question is - how snug should these be on first try? it is definitely less snug on my left calf…but do these truly stretch? is too big in the calf a problem? am i going to wish i had gotten a size smaller?

I’ve had 2 rounds Grandgester Konigs and neither have stretched in the calf, only dropped in height and some stretch in the top part of the foot in the older pair. They should not be tight or you will be more likely to break your zipper.

Thank you! I think these will work out great

When I bought my Koenigs last year, I asked the reputable seller if they shouldn’t be tighter because they were so easy to zip and I could fit a finger between my knee and the boot. She said no because that gap would be take up as the boot drops onto the wider part of your calf.

She was right, and my boots are absolutely perfect now, almost a year later.

^that is what I am experiencing too - glad to hear that is normal/desired. Guess I should commit and start wearing them

I will say that my boots were super easy to break in. I used heel lifts, and had practically no issues, unlike my Petrie’s which took months and left scars on my legs.

did you also get the Favorits or a stiffer model?
