Kool Kurtains or similar?

Anyone tried this for keeping stall cooler, bugs out? My stalls have dutch door in front and are basically three sided so the back of the stall is totally open 12’ wide. I would install for dutch doors and for the back. Just wondered if anyone had tried this and if it was helpful. Also I am wondering if I could do a DIY version with shade cloth as that would likely be a whole lot cheaper. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

I made my own using shade cloth I got on sale at walmart. I took a one inch circumference PVC pipe that I used for a curtain rod, sewed a hem in the top and threaded the PVC pipe through the hem. The PVC pipe slides into brackets over the stall dutch door. It makes a huge difference in temperature in the stall when the morning sun is blocked by the curtain. It also helps keep flies out since the stall is darker and the big flies can’t get in.

Glad to know it worked and can be a DIY project. I am thinking of doing two panels for the dutch doors so they can stick their heads out if they want to. I will probably do a few 3-4’ wide panels for the big stall entrances likely with a some overlap between the panels. My only concern is that it can get windy up here and I don’t know how much it will bother them if the curtains are blowing around. I hope they just just put on their big girl and big boy pants and deal with it. Not sure if it would help to put any sort of weight on the full length curtains so they are less likely to move if it’s just a slight breeze. I hope this will help them stay cool and comfortable this summer.

The horse I did the curtains for is a spookmeister. She got used to it. I figured it was good de-sensitizing training.

You could add some weight to the bottom corners by sewing in some washers.
