No matter what you think of her husband or his political career, you [have to] admire and respect Ann for her achievements.
Solid scores well into the 60’s at I-2 in Wellington. And with MS, to boot.

Wow, good for her!! Excellent scores. I will also mention that she is 66 years old. This gives me some hope, I’m not far behind her and I only want to get to I-1…
Kudos to Ann!
But, would you even care and make this public announcement if her husband wasn’t a well known politician? If she was one of the masses, who would be out here announcing her accomplishments? Seems a bit ridiculous when others, with less name recognition, achieve similar goals and are never pointed out on this board or in articles.
Cheers for anyone who can score like that at I-2. Her journey with MS sounds like this is an accomplishment worthy of much higher praise.
I would love to see a detailed article about her journey and challenges with MS and how her riding has improved her ( and others) physical health.
It sound nothing short of amazing

And, OP, did you need to follow up the “invitation” to consider Mrs. Romney’s accomplishment with a potential insult for someone who doesn’t agree?
Sigh. I don’t understand why this forum needs to be preemptively snarky when folks feel someone might have a different point of view.
I think Winston Churchill was right about how people roll: “The smaller the topic, the more vicious the fight.”
In any case, good for Romney!
Well, gee… Looks like someone pissed in the collective forum cheerios this morning. Can we all just grab a coffee (or three), maybe some chocolate, and just be happy for Ann? As a whole, we have been supportive of other riders who overcome struggles to do well and we do have posts about them, name or not.

Of course not. Famous people are recognized for all sorts of things (good and bad) that are not necessarily out of the ordinary. That’s what fame means. That’s life!

What a snot. You just pegged yourself as one of the hard-hearted b******.
Good for her! She is an inspiration.
give her a break…I admire it, and she has to live with Mr Romeny lol
Here’s the view from one wild-eyed leftist. Good for Ms. Romney and I applaud the OP for recognizing her accomplishments.
Given that every rail bird and their sister love love love to line up to watch Ms. Romney ride at shows, and given how incredibly gracious she is at shows, I say it’s perfectly alright for her to get a little good press. I’m speaking from personal experience on more than one occasion.
You guys are SO funny. I’m the bad guy for pointing out that singing her praises and no one else’s for similar accomplishments is not really the best form. And yet I didn’t say her accomplishments should not be celebrated. I just don’t think it’s FAIR to the others who do similar things when they are not celebrated as well. That’s all. You guys are just so into taking things in the snarkiest way possible. Just pointing out that it’s kind of ridiculous to only bring her accomplishments up because she’s not one of the unwashed masses is not pissing in cheerios. It’s pointing out that so many out here want everything to be fair and equitable, and then ignore everyone who hasn’t been under the microscope of the media.
I would be much more accomplished if my husband had a couple of hundred million dollars.

Maybe, maybe not. One thing that is for sure is that you would be riding under more public scrutiny if your husband, or you for that matter, were in the public eye. Just a tad more pressure.
Let’s not forget the flip side. Because she’s rich, because she’s famous, she’s also subject to much more intense scrutiny and criticism than, for example, I would be if I were riding at her level. She can have it … both sides of the famous coin.
Velvet, life isn’t fair. It’s certainly not “fair” that we can ride , be healthy, and were born into a country where we are not starving or sold into a sex slave ring at age 12. Happens all over the world and is happening right now.
yes in dressage as in anything else some come with "unfair " advantages…be it talent, access to great training from early age or wealth. I admire her for sticking to the sport despite public humiliation on national TV about it. I am not as supporter of her husband or the political view point btw
The flip side of being celebrated ( on a small scale this little bulletin board and a dressage show), is she was also publicly humiliated in the tabloids and TV, with her interest in dressage made into a national joke. Was that fair?

 That doesn’t really roll eye anymore. I guess you have to imagine it.
good you have a sense of humor ! Life is not fair, i wish I were a supermodel with a trust fund and natural riding talent lol
