We are in the process of purchasing a 5 yr. old Dutch warmblood gelding (Everdale x San Remo) and he has an HB after his name. We are not yet familiar with the KWPN naming convention (other than the horse name must start with a specific letter assigned to the foal year) so are curious whether the HB stands for something related to the breeding, stud book, etc. or whether it simply helps differentiate our horse from another one using the same name. We will eventually join the KWPN if the horse passes pre-purchase and we actually buy it and will get an answer then but we are excited and thought someone here might know the answer. Thanks.
It’s most like a breeder identifier.

HB is a prefix for Hidden Brook Stables. I assume they are the breeder of your horse.
Breeder designation makes sense. Not Hidden Brook Stables though since the new guy was bred in Holland but it could have been if that’s what HB stands for. Thanks for the good info.
i know before 3 yr old the costs are not expensive, older then 3 years it cost more money.
at kwpn.nl you can see the rules and the costs.
breeder of your horse, is G. Havik en E. Broeren from Middenbeemster.
very known for their very good quality kwpn horses they breed.
Yep, breeder. But wanted to add that I know a couple of different horses with HB for breeder designation that are all different HB breeders. Just wanted to mention that so there isn’t an assumption that all HB horses come from the same place, like some other breeder/stud designations!
