KWPN folks, help me out.
Who is the stallion owner with a reputation for sending substandard frozen semen to NA? And who publicly stated he had no interest in helping North American breeders?
Is it Joop van Uytert?

Yes
Thanks, I.E!
A friend is looking into purchasing a number of doses from Europe, so we want to eliminate any stallions from the list whose frozen is suspect.
The Oldenburg stallion roster lists the following stallions with Uytert:
Charmeur
Krack C
United
Vivaldi
Zhivago
Has anyone in NA had success with frozen from any of those guys? Or would it be a total waste of money and cycles to try them? Are there other stallions owned by Uytert we need to avoid?
Samantha Kidd has a pregnancy with Vivaldi this year.
That’s great to hear BITS!
I do know Vivaldi is now being frozen by Holstud. The motility reports are good but I hadn’t heard of any success’ yet (I started a new thread asking yesterday).
Charmeur I know has had success, as DG Bar had a couple really sensational foals by him this year and I’ve heard of other success’. Though I’m quite sure he’s frozen by someone else now as well.
Krack C is essentially beautiful garbage, I know people who have tried.
Some of the Van Uytert stallions are now being collected and frozen AND represented by other places, Schockemoehle being one of them, and surprise, surprise… the frozen semen now is good! Van Uytert himself stated at a KWPN meeting two years ago that “he’s not interested in doing business with the United States” and so I think we should listen to him if possible.
Really hoping Vivaldi has good frozen semen available in 2015. He is one I would love to use or have a client use, LOL!

Well fine! I hope no one from the US is buying any horses from him either.
What a stupid short sighted idiot …
I hope he remembers his words when the North American economy is stronger than the European one, there is more trade happening on this side of the pond than on the other and other more ethical and reputable breeders and sellers in the EU are capitalizing on this …
I can see the press release from him now:
" We are NOW interested in doing all kinds of business with North America and have taken steps to ensure the semen we are sending now works and isn’t the same garbage we sent in previous years … "
Uh huh … …

Thanks - I wonder where she got the semen, as I don’t think Judy Yancey carries it, and Superior doesn’t show they have it, either. I am curious to know if Samantha imported it herself - I know she runs a repro center, so I will get in touch with her.
Thanks, Siegi! I only saw Vivaldi on the Schockemohle site - not any of the others. And Vivaldi is listed as with fresh semen only. I am guessing that info was for the 2014 breeding year, and am wondering if that means Vivaldi will be collected/frozen this winter, and also wondering about any of the others. I will shoot Christoph an email and get more info.
Global equine sires or something like that showed availability a few months ago.
http://globalequinesires.com/prices. I assume the x means in stock??? But don’t know if this is where she got it from.

It’s a “miracle”! rolls eyes
I almost think the jackass should be subject to a class action lawsuit for selling known frozen garbage and profiting HUGELY from doing so. His thinking at the time was probably something like, ‘Awww… the semen didn’t work? It’s probably your mare. Now come to the NL and buy a horse from me by one of my stallions seeing as you had no success trying to breed from them!’
Samantha’s came from Global.
Samantha is getting a really good track record with “iffy” frozen. In addition to the Vivaldi pregnancy, she got pregnancies this year with Hohenstein I and De Niro frozen. De Niro used to be much more reliable, but doses from the past few years have been a bit trickier, and Hohenstein has always been iffy - got a bit better with the doubled number of straws, but still risky. Her vet is super - I’ve known him for years (attended his equine repro course at UGA way back in 2004).
