Just thought everyone would like to know La Ville Rouge is believed to be in foal to Dynaformer. She was bred to him at the end of April. The mare delivered a full brother to Barbaro, Nicanor, and Lentenor March 10.
“We have done a follow up scan which indicates La Ville Rouge is in foal to Dynaformer on a April 26 breeding,” said Headley Bell of Mill Ridge Farm, where the mare is boarded. “She will be examined again around the end of May and June to confirm her pregnancy.”

Check out this video of the 2009 colt. He is stunning!

If they follow their naming pattern, this one is going to be named Margano or Sereno, because one would assume that Calypso is taken.

The portrait of the hunting pack of the Comte de Barral dates to the 1860’s and originally appeared as a series of three panels. A large, central image depicts two English foxhounds and two vendeens: Margano, Sereno, Lentenor and Nicanor. Separate, individual portraits show the English foxhound Barbaro and Calypso, a French foxhound. The images are larger than life, even heroic, in size. Looking out from the main panel, the gazes of the central four hounds seem to follow a viewer about the room.

Wow, what a nice boy! Big, fluid stride and athletic buck! I love him!

Isn’t he something?!!!???

Maybe one of these days they’ll breed that mare to a different horse!

Only after they run out of dogs in the picture.

Obviously, they love that cross and the results.

There’s a 2007 Sereno and a 1999 Calypso. Margano is not taken.

Supposed to be a Filly!!!

La Ville Rouge is reported to be carrying a filly! Happy news for Mr/Mrs Jackson!!!

Congratulations!!!:)

La Ville Rouge, the dam of ill-fated Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro, has been checked in foal at the 62-day stage of her pregnancy for 2009 and is believed to be carrying a filly. A multiple graded stakes-place daughter of Carson City, La Ville Rouge has produced six foals – all males.
According to Headley Bell, an adviser to owners Roy and Gretchen Jackson, La Ville Rouge was checked June 29 by Dr Richard Holder of Hagyard Davidson McGee and the test showed she was carrying a healthy fetus believed to be a filly. The mare was bred to Dynaformer, the sire of Barbaro, on April 26.
“Mr. and Mrs. Jackson are delighted that she continues to be in foal and it is a prospective full sister to Barbaro,” Bell said.
On another note, although he has not specifically discussed it with the Jacksons or Matz, Bell said it is likely too early in Lentenor’s training regimen for his connections to have a schedule set for his first race.
Stay tuned.

Unfortunately, she has aborted her filly as reported today in Bloodhorse.

Oh, how sad!!!

Any word on La Ville Rouge?? Hopefully she is OK.

One day after Barbaro’s full brother Lentenor broke his maiden in impressive fashion, the connections announced that La Ville Rouge, the dam of both horses, had aborted her 2010 foal.

I’m just sick about it for the Jacksons. Just heart broken. :frowning:

What a shame, especially since they were finally going to get a filly. :frowning:

Well, back to Dynaformer, one presumes. Isn’t he getting up there? What are they going to do if he’s pensioned before they stop breeding her?

pick someone else.

:frowning: How sad.
My heart goes out to her connections.

aborted offspring are normally a result of something going wrong in the development process. if something is developing incorrectly or not developing at all somewhere down the line a cue is given to the mother and the hormonal changes occur causing the abortion. its a very sad sad thing but its mother nature and unfortunately if something is going awry in the womb (developmentally); theres not much we can do about it.

Although humans are the most populated in the world they are also one of the worst in reproduction (go figure). Somewhere between 70 and 80% of all pregnancies go unoticed due to the fact that something goes wrong in the first few weeks of development of the embryo and it aborts/recesses.
