Ladies: Best Sports Bra?

At my ideal weight, I am a 34D but right now, it’s more like 36 D or even DD. My back KILLS me on days I ride more than one horse. Any recommendations for bras? Right now I buy these really nice tight/stretchy material Champion sports bras, but I’m due to replace them. I’m also convinced there must be something better out there.

Thanks in advance…

there’s nothin’ better than the victoria’s secret sports bras… On a good day I’m a 34C, but with weight fluctuations I’m at a 34B currently. Now I’m using the cheapies from Hanes/Walmart (because, hey, I’m cheap) but when I gain a few pounds and it all goes to the girls, the VS ones definitely keep them strapped down. The only down point is the stitching across the boob shows through some shirts, but it keeps everything in one spot, so I deal with it.

the website got rid of the good ones, but maybe they’d be in store?

I have found one made by LeMystere. It isn’t really a sports bra, but MAN is it awsome. My girlfriend and I joke that in case of an emergency we could use it as a girth on the trail. I am a 32B (and upping in cup size as I am getting older) so finding a bra that actauly is supportive is really tough. This one has a really wide back and can cris-cross and the cups are really supportive. I prefer this over a sports bra personaly because they never seem to fit me quite right. Oh, and the materical is HEAVY and doubled up so it doesn’t wear out quick. I bought 2 and have been useing the first one for about 4 months now and it isn’t showing any sign of wear yet.

For those of us with bigger Ta-Tas, I recommend the Enell Sports bra. (You can google or go to
www.ladiesonlysports.com) A bit pricey by really straps them in. I am a DD so I have to really shop around for something sturdier than the typical B or C cup…:winkgrin:

As a 38 or 40 DD, I feel your pain (literally!). I swear by the Moving Comfort. Their Fiona is more of a traditional sports bra w/o underwire, and their Cara has underwire and a more traditoinal look under clothes - no ginormous uni-boob - while minimizing bounce very well.

I like Under Armor sports bras. I’m a DD and I find them very supportive and comfortable.

I 4th or is it 5th these.:yes:

I’m about the same size as you and I cannot live without my Enell. :yes: It’s a bit interesting to get into the first time, but it sure holds the girls in place! Mine have washed / worn very well, too. Good quality!

Someone once recommended Wacoal minimizer bras, too. They are regular bras, though. While I think they are awesome regular bras, they just weren’t supportive enough for me while riding. I did, however, become a Wacoal convert for every day, though.

No joke, before I found that thread on CoTH about bras, I didn’t know what I was missing. :lol::yes:

Okay here’s a Bra question for some moms. I had my baby 2 1/2 weeks ago and have heard that you shouldn’t wear anything too tight because it could cause problems with nursing. I started riding a couple of days ago and tried using my nursing bra with a regular sports bra on top. It seemed okay until I started trotting (lol)…so since using my enell is out (it’s so tight I can hardly breath before I got the boob increase…think Small D before) do you have any recommendations?

Hands down–Enell! And if you’ve read any of my other figure-related posts, you’ll understand why if they will hold me in, they’ll hold in anyone!

Morgansmind–not a clue–I’m sorry. :frowning: Have you talked to your doctor to get an official idea of what problems can occur from wearing too tight stuff while nursing or what the likelihood might be? Have you considered going to a specialty lingerie store and asking the opinion of a bra fitter? Even if they don’t carry sports bras, I’d bet you could get some useful info and if they truly don’t carry anything to ride in, you may be able to bring in some options that you’ve found elsewhere and they could evaluate them for your shape and current needs. Hope this helps at least a little.

UNDER ARMOUR UNDER ARMOUR UNDER ARMOUR

Everyone at the barn and gym swears by these things. They are so awesome and versatile and those girls DONT MOVE!! They have the heatgear technology which is awesome in the summer because it wicks away sweat and i never get that little pool of sweat in between the boobies.

My favorite part is that I wear them under a tank top and can walk around with the bra showing. I just looks like and undershirt and is perfectly acceptable. I even wore just the top riding once and lifeguarded for a whole month in one while I waited for my guard suit to come in. You really cannot tell its a sports bra.

Equetech anti-bounce bra - I tried to find some suppliers in the USA and this was all I could find.

Check them out here: http://publishing.yudu.com/A7lzz/RobinsonsSprSumCat08/resources/34.htm (second from the left on the top row).

Arena Protack stock them according to google but I couldn’t find anyting opn their website, of course I may be “man-looking” in which case I’m never gonna find them!! :lol:

NB: Edited to add that although the pic shows the zip going upwards it actually goes downwards

They give support and stop the bounce thereby stopping the tissue damage. Here’s the burble about them…

At last a bra designed specifically for the larger bust, fully supportive during equestrian activities.

Maximum comfort has been achieved with supportive back panel, cut away straps for complete freedom of movement without compromising support and fit and wide band round the rib-cage for the ultimate support.

Made from technologically advanced fabric, allowing air to circulate whist wicking away moisture, keeping you fresh all day!

Other features include 1/2 zip to front for ease of use and comfort cut back straps for maximum shoulder/arm movement, supportive back panel. The most comfortable riding bra you will ever own!

The anti-bounce bras don’t actually have cups in them so really cup size guide does not matter, generally it works on chest size.

Colour: White, Black.

CHEST / RIB =
Small - 36-38"/30-34"
Medium - 38-40"/32-36"
Large - 40-42"/34-38"
X-Large - 42-44"/36-40"

A rough guide would be:
S = 34d/dd 32e/ee 30f/ff
M= 36d/dd 34/e/ee 32f/ff 30g/gg
L= 38d/dd 36e/ee 34f/ff 32g/gg
XL= 40d/dd 38e/ee 36f/ff 34g/gg 32h/hh

ENELL!!!

Enell bra literally saved my life! I have scoliosis and while i thought i was a 34DD i was recently measured as a 32E :eek::eek: and to top it off i ride dressage. I can jump up and down and the girls literally don’t move, AND i can breathe!
for the first time in my adult life i can stand up straight without pain. SOOOOO worth the $55
www.enell.com

Enell is the only sports bra I will ever buy again. It works. Period. They hold up, and the girls don’t move. I am a DD. Love my Enell.

Morgansmom, I am still breast feeding too and I am a 36 DD. I swear by Nike sports bras and I have worn them for years. They last and give great support.
I only wear them to ride (and stay in them for 1/2 a day at a time’ish, the rest of the time in nursing bras or tanks).
I have never had a problem with nursing etc. (My son is 16 months and I have been back riding since he was 2 months).

I recently bought the Enell “Last Resort” bra. I’m a 36DD, which is AWFUL to ride with.

That IS the world’s GREATEST creation. I am STUNNED at how wonderful it is to ride in. I had finally gotten to the point where I was hardly riding anymore because it was so painful – and this has changed everything. Best of all, it not only does its job, but I don’t even notice it/think about it when I’m riding.

Worth EVERY penny. I wish I had found it years ago.
