Laine ashker clinic

Has anyone ridden with her? I have the chance to do a two day clinic (God willing my horses eye gets better) in about a month. I used to hate her, but from what I’ve seen in her riding, she has greatly improved and grown up. That being said, I’ve never seen her teach.

Anyone have experience? Is it worth the $375?

Thanks

I’ve never ridden with her, but I did a coursewalk with her a couple of years ago and wasn’t thrilled by what she had to say. Also $375 seems pretty pricey for basically two lessons.

Check out her Facebook page-she posts a lot of grid work videos and dressage work videos. See what you think about those, get some feedback on here/from others you know, and then decide. I like the grids she shares. Would love to do them if I was currently riding!

I don’t have Facebook

Be aware that she is not a big favorite in these forums. I agree with Highflyer that $375 seems a bit high, but in all fairness, the organizer may be the one setting the fees.

I think she’s very talented and overall seems like a nice person, but the price seems pretty steep. I saw her teach during the Thoroughbreds for All demo at Rolex last year, and of course a clinic would be longer and more focused than a public demo, but I don’t think I would spend almost $400 to have two lessons with her.

Its easy enough to set up a FB account, will only take a few minutes and I think it is well worth taking the time before you spend $375.

Lol I had one, but I deactivated it. I don’t want to be on that form of social media any more. I can reactivate it at any time… So I suppose I could go do that and then deactivate it again.

Seems like these days you have to have Facebook… I was hoping the horse world was immune to it :frowning:

I don’t use FB either, but I do have an account, mainly just for those times I want to view photos that require it. I have never posted a comment or use it in any way, and I have never deactivated it, I just don’t respond to it.

I guess I’ll go reactivate it this evening and go and delete all the reasons I deactivated it.

But if all her grids are posted on there, so I really need to pay $375 when I can make them myself for free? Lol

just form a phantom account with a made up name…I actually have several friends that have accounts like that.

I have talked with people who rode in a clinic with Lainey and really enjoyed it.

That is brilliant!!! thank you!

As for the clinic…go audit. Then you will know if you want to ride next time.

I only know Lainey in passing. She has a lot of energy and is passionate about her horses. She has had access to very good trainers. I wouldn’t be surprised if she taught an upbeat positive clinic that some people enjoyed.

But with anyone…I tend to think it is always best to audit a clinic before you ride with someone.

I think you might be by me! I was going to clinic with her at one stable, but they cancelled it due to the EHV-1 outbreak, and now a second stable in the area has picked it up instead.

The clinic isn’t exactly near by. It’s about a 3.5 hour drive I can’t justify driving that far to just watch. It’s in Louisville

I’m not sure why you’d spend $375 on someone you “used to hate?”

I’m not sure why you bothered posting if you are just going to de-rail my thread.

Good training is good training. Despite how I feel about a person. If they are good at what they do, that’s all that matters.

Completely agree. I would not drop $375 to ride with someone I’ve never seen teach because everyone’s learning style is different. For example, I’ve personally learned a lot of auditing George Morris clinics but would never spend the $$ to ride with him.

A friend rode with her and loved it, she was extremely positive, upbeat, supportive, with lots of helpful exercises.

That being said, $375 is a lot of money. I’m paying $400 to ride with Lucinda Green at the end of Jan.
