Just a head’s up about Facebook- they’ve been pretty quick to block/close pages that are made under false names.

not for the way the OP is using it. I have friends that use made up names (nothing like a real name) for YEARS (they had to friend me in order for me to know who they were). As long as you are not pretending to be someone else (that gets shut down). But just because you are not using your actual name because of not wanting strangers to track you, that is fine on Facebook. You just loose the benefit of old friends and relatives “finding” you which is one of the best aspects of Facebook. Connecting with people that you have lost touch with.

I dunno. Mine was blocked because I was using my middle name/last name rather than first name/last name. I had to prove to them who I was before they’d undo it.

Someone had to report you but it isn’t hard to undo unless you are posting scam etc.

I think you might be by me! I was going to clinic with her at one stable, but they cancelled it due to the EHV-1 outbreak, and now a second stable in the area has picked it up instead.
You’re near me then… very scary stuff. I’m not going anywhere for a while. Even though there are clinics and indoor shows I’m tempted by. I can’t believe they held a barrel race at Dream Park right after the horses got sick (and the one had been there).
And yes, I derailed the tread a bit, but only to discuss a public heath issue.

I have been using a fake name ever since I signed up on facebook over a decade ago. Someone must have reported you for some reason (probably a bad reason).
I don’t think that is an outrageous price, I suppose it’s partly based on how far they have to travel to get to your area. Here clinics with 4star riders are usually in the $376-$475 range. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 2 day clinic cheaper. I think I paud $450 a few years ago to ride with Lucinda.
I rode with Lainey and thought she was very motivating and upbeat. I definitely learned a lot, but her style isn’t very suited to my horse. She prefers a deeper seat, which is totally fine, but my horse prefers I be off of her back more.

$450 is about right for Lucinda but Laine is not at all Lucinda. Usually clinic cost is related to the experience/reputation of the clinician since the most in demand will likely charge a higher fee. Lucinda does come from England as well - although she is usually on a clinic schedule for multiple weeks in the US and Canada.
I didn’t pay $450 for Lainey. I think it was $375. I was just stating that numbers in that range are not out of the norm.
Having been the recipient over the years of occasional unsolicited horse-sales videos from Ashker mère (I guess she bought a USEA mailing list), I have this to say about Laine and her training: Her horses were NEVER straight.
The horses were, IIRC, decent creatures. But they weren’t straight in dressage, they weren’t straight on XC, and they weren’t straight in SJ. Honestly, I was impressed that the horses were so willing and managed to maintain their composure while being ridden without a hint of straightness.
I blocked the Ashker spam email address so I have no idea if this has changed over the past few years. I hope so. Straightness is important.

Has anyone ridden with her? I have the chance to do a two day clinic (God willing my horses eye gets better) in about a month. I used to hate her, but from what I’ve seen in her riding, she has greatly improved and grown up. That being said, I’ve never seen her teach.)
OP hate is a strong word. Why do you throw it around like you do? This has really been bugging me reading your posts lately.
The horse world is a small world. And don’t shrug it off when others here try to tell you that it is offensive to be making these statements about people here on the forums.

Strongly dislike. Less offensive? (Said in a serious non sarcastic tone FYI)

Not really. Its’ about publicly talking smack about people. How do you know that you ‘hate’ someone, or even strongly dislike them? Do you personally know that person? Did that person personally do something to you? No you’ve formulated an opinion about someone based on the social media and then you’ve perpetuated it. You’ve made this statement about Laine and then you’ve similarly discussed the trainers in your area in another thread. You said someone else hated someone. Maybe that was based on more personal interactions. I was just picking up on the very recent posts and commenting that it seems a bit over the line to me.
There are more polite civil ways to discuss our differences in life with others. It was a nice concession to say that you had begun to change your mind about Lainey but you could have asked the question about her teaching without the personal comments. That’s called tactful.
And what is your motive, the point, to alienate the people who you will potentially be interacting with in some ways because your paths will cross? And what’s been said does get back to people. Just remember that everything you say and do tells everyone exactly who you are in life.
I did a clinic with Laine recently on my greenish horse (neither of us have been in heavy work for at least a year and a half). I’d kind of been at a stand-still with him since I have limited jumps at home, no arena, no jump crew ;), and wasn’t very confident to push us a little further along by myself. I only did one day because of the cost and my own time restraints. She was very friendly very professional, had plenty of good AND bad feedback, actively coached through our exercises, helped me work on my bad habits (had a lightbulb moment!), helped me help my horse with some of his bad habits, and had us do more than we had ever done together (height-wise, style of jump, course challenges, and grid work). He came away from the clinic a more confident horse, I feel more confident in his abilities and judgement, I got plenty of things to think about and ways to work on them, and I had a good time. No negatives about it! I do think it was a little expensive but I’m glad I went.

Then I guess you can form an opinion of me based on social media… Which based on your post, isn’t that exactly what you are against?
Regardless, I’m not talking “snack” about her. Just like I wasn’t talking about anyone in my other post.
Thanks for all the feed back everyone!

This is too funny now after her rant she posted on Facebook! She took it upon herself to publicly shame two people that dropped out of her clinic.
sorry, I don’t see other “professionals” belly aching online when people don’t fill their clinics.
Snark + smack = snack?
Personally, I don’t respect her riding (and that’s the NICEST thing I can say), so I would never seek instruction from someone I didn’t respect.
There are MANY better options out there.

I chuckled about that post too. Scratched her off my ‘clinicians I’d like to ride with someday’ list.

Not defending her calling the people out by name at all (as I agree - that was not the most professional and the post could have been made without those details), but just pointing out that this situation was dirty on both sides. It wasn’t like the clinic just didn’t fill - as I understand from other posts from FB friends involved, the two people decided last minute they just didn’t want to make the drive and then put stop-payments on their non-refundable checks.
