Lakota Trailer questions

I have been doing research trailers for years but never researched the Lakota company. My top picks were 4 Star, Feather Light and Eby. However, the price for a 2 horse straight load with dressing room and stud wall divider is higher than I thought. I found a good deal on a Lakota near me. It has an aluminum plank floor and I don’t know anything about those. I am wondering if folks like this trailer and how it holds up over time. And if anyone has experience with this plank aluminum floor. I have a 36 year old Classic Trailer with a wood floor that is still on the road! Only have had to replace one board and axels. I will be selling that one but have kept it because it is such a great trailer to haul and friendly to use for all sizes of horses. Thanks in advance!

You need to add Hawk Trailers to your list. Risa at Happy Trails Trailers was fabulous to work with, https://happytrailstrailers.com/ Great trailers and better priced. Aluminum floors can corrode over time.

A Lakota will be no where near the quality of a 4Star or Eby, and maybe not even that of an older Featherlite.

Thanks for your comments. The price for the Eby and the 4 Star and Featherlight are in the 22k to 30k range. I just can’t justify that amount of cost at this point in my business. I have looked up comments from folks who seem tor really like their Lakota’s . They make alot of trailers with living quarters and are very popular in that market. Four Star , Feather lite and Eby don’t offer a wood floor option. Only aluminum. I like the plank idea since it seems that planks can be replaced easier than a one piece floor. The trailer I am looking at has a 2 and 5 year warranty and is 15k . So far I am leaning towards it. I go to look at it tomorrow. If I was a bigger business and did more hauling than I intend to now I would not hesitate to go with one of my top three companies mentioned.

Sorry but I’ve seen the welds on the Lakota. A trained chimpanzee can do better.

Check out EquiSpirit. Their “Breeze” option is great.

I just went through this process looking at everything, I had found a used Jamco with a 4 foot dressing room in Tennessee that was well priced. It was a 4 foot dressing room and I wanted a 5 foot or I would have bought it. It may still be available.PM me if you want me to look for it. I would go with a Bison LQ over a Lakota. I am working with someone locally to finish out my tackroom when my new trailer comes in. After looking around I went with a custom 4star runabout. It is nearly impossible to find wood floors. My second choice brand was Adam. They are also good quality and come with a wood floor. Shetron is the company who is now making the Collin Arndt trailers. I would have gone with them had I been able to afford them. The quality of my 2000 CA is just not available in any new trailer I have seen.
