lamb cant really stand/walk on it's back legS (3 months old): any idea what could be causing this?

It can walk fine on it’s front legs but it’s back legs aren’t holding it up well, it can walk on them wobbly (like at start of video) for about 5 minutes but after that it lies down. Yesterday all my lambs were fine but today I noticed this lamb with this problem. It doesn’t have any maggots on it,the lamb was treated for maggots, the lamb is 3 months old . She doesn’t have swayback https://photos.app.goo.gl/kbnmevmXZM9BLv3c6 Https://photos.app.goo.gl/ZDWZ6V3UwCEnDqJX8

3 months is when you tend to see the affects of low selenium on lambs. It is called “white muscle disease”

E Sel is an injectable used to prevent or treat white muscle disease.

I would definitely consider a BoSe injection for your lamb if you can; it is a prescription drug but vets IME are happy to have you use it in a low selenium area. Vitamin E and Selenium are both potential deficiencies that can cause that kind of symptom.

I have this stuff, NutriDrench, on hand all the time:

I bought it the first time thinking it was probably a placebo, but in fact I’ve had really good results with it on so many occasions that I now give it at birth and any time a sheep seems not quite right. Sheep that are not eating often regain their appetite after I give it. It is fortified with Vitamin E and Selenium at an oral dose that may be enough to help your lamb. It’s easy to give and your feed store likely has some.

Don’t delay - the sooner you treat, the better.

Also - you may want to follow Premier Sheep-Goats on Facebook; they answer veterinary questions there from sheep and goat producers and I’ve picked up a lot of great tips there. I believe they will also still do over the phone consulting (formerly this was Pipestone’s service). This is a very valuable service especially if you don’t have a local veterinarian with a lot of experience with sheep.

Agee with the others on lambs and sheep needing E-sel shots. Locally lambs get that shot soon after birth. Mother ewes get the shot yearly, shortly before lambing time to prevent problems to her and new lamb. You do not want to lose sheep when it can be prevented so easily with the shots. We have no Selenium in our soil, so sheep get none from grazing or hay.
