Lanacane antichafing gel

A while back there was a useful thread on anticafing products for the rider. I never could source Anti Monkey Butt powder locally and the body glide product from the outdoor sports store was very expensive for what it was, though it worked.

Then last week I stumbled on Lanacane antichafing gel in the supermarket pharmacy next to the cortisone creams and other human skin crud stuff. It totally seems to work, and if you don’t shower still works the next day.

It has no Lanacane for Sunburn Pain analgesics. It wasn’t too expensive, a little goes a long way, and it’s clearly a mass market product that ought to be widely distributed.

I don’t know if this is a new product or an old one, that everyone but me knows about

Anyhow I don’t think it was mentioned in the old thread or I would have gone looking for it then.

I just bought an anti chaffing spray (first one I’ll be trying) off amazon and the Lanacane one popped up as a suggestion. I’ll have to keep that one in mind in case the one I ordered doesn’t work… especially if it is in any stores near me.

Without getting into TMI  after using the gel I realized that various minor itches and soreness i’d been living with are all just symptoms of chafing.

A good antiperspirant used in problem areas can also help.

It is just so humid that really long rides… well, they aren’t comfortable after the ride that is for sure! I’m hoping the anti chaffing spray (I got the Trislide brand) helps protect my poor thighs.

Monistat – the yeast infection brand - makes a chafing gel as well. Usually located next to feminine products.

It also beats out Smashbox as a face primer, and a great base for lipstick!

I use a product called “Slather” by SKIN (discovered if while running) and it is great stuff. Still using the same jar as last year.

The two Walmarts near me carried the Lanacane anti-chafing gel for one summer about three years ago. I haven’t been able to find it anywhere since. I agree. Best anti-chafing product I’ve ever used. Will have to ask my neighborhood pharmacist if they can get it. I thought it had been discontinued by Lanacane.

Yikes. I will go buy up all the tubes tomorrow. Seriously.

Googled and seems to still be listed on Lanacane.com and Lanacane Canada.

Tons of options on Amazon as well (singles, 3 packs, 5 packs, etc). I don’t think it has been discontinued… maybe just not a big seller in that specific store so they don’t carry it any more.
