Landrover XC Course Preview

Disclaimer - I am firmly rooted in the H/J world and not an eventer, so forgive me if this comes across as ignorant.

After watching the throwback video that EN posted of the 1982 Kentucky 4*, it made me realize just how much I miss the eventing of 30 years ago. I really, really dislike all the skinnies and corners and kitschy jumps with crabs and ducks and the like. Sorry if I sound like an old humbug. Perhaps the XC jumps of today are safer, and that is a good thing. I just wish they were more austere, and harkened back to Eventing’s true roots.

Then again, I wish that hunter courses were still held over outside courses, without all the emphasis on ā€œmaking the numbersā€ and auto lead changes. :woman_shrugging:

Me too. Thank you for your post.

I love that there’s actually a true coffin and a sunken road on the course this year. I don’t think there have been true representations of either in recent years, so I’m happy they’re back! Also, is it me or is there more water on course than usual?

this one freaks me out. This is a better view of the ditch tho.
