Riding in Mongolia (or other central Asian locale) has been something I have wanted to do since my last riding trip (2004). Pretty much rests on me getting a tenure track position.
That introduction is enough to put any but the most foolhardy, tough riders off.
Imagine doing 1000 miles on one of those choppy gaited little things - my back aches thinking about it, and the falls. But it does get one a teeny bit excited at the thought.
The Brooke Hospital for Animals does a ride that is a bit more sane.
