Anyone have a lead on where I could get a blinker hood in a large or x-large size? Horse is wide between eyes and nothing is fitting. Thanks!
When you find a source, let me know. I bought one from BigDeeweb with the metal eye protectors, and it didn’t fit my Hessen. When i called bigdee’s, the woman there was not sympathetic to WBs. She said a standardbred hood should fit a WB. I suggested maybe they should provide hoods for WBs who wanted to race.:lol:
The space between the eys, and the convex head, altho the length is the same as my TB mare’s was, means the STB racing masks do not fit the WB.
I’m still searching! My guy is an OTTB. Granted he is a big boy but I’ve seen bigger TBs on the track with blinkers so the hoods DO exist!

You can buy the hood from Finish Line without cups and then get the clear covers from Bigdeeweb and sew them on yourself.
Call Neil’s at 717-469-2157. They had a woman who hand makes blinkers and silks dirt cheap, I assume she is still there. She does beautiful work and can make them to whatever specifications you need. Her name is Kathy Kotenko, make sure it is still her and not some other company.
This thread has been great. I’m going to call the lady about making Cloudy a hood. His head is the normal length for a tb, but he has the wb bump in the center and his eyes are very wide apart. So the bigDee hood won’t cover both eyes. (And with the black wire eye covers, it is unusual looking just lying around the barn. People think it is some blue bustier.:lol:) Now I can buy the clear plastic covers, and maybe get the lady to make me a hood like the one I have, which has the laced in holes to change the eye covers/cups.
