Large men's protective vest?

Looking for protective vest suggestions for a 6’2" man, weight lifter, wears a 42 or 44 Long in a suit jacket. On a visit to the local tack shop he tried on an XL Tipperary Eventer Pro. It stopped well short of his tailbone and did not remotely accommodate his arms, neck, nor shoulders.

He’s a beginning rider doing arena flatwork, so he’s not looking for high-end nor eventing-legal. But, as the years pass none of us bounce as well as we once did! CR

ETA: Looking for a protective vest, not really an air vest. Pointers to sources with agreeable return policies would be great. Thank you!

Try the tall version of the Tipperary vests below. If you can spring for the higher priced version (first link), it’s significantly more comfortable. The cheaper version should still fit well, but it’s not quite as comfortable and the side laces have metal rings that will rust if he’s a heavy sweater.

Racesafe custom makes their vests for folks. That’s where I got my newest one (admittedly a Beta 3 2018 standard model). $500?

Charles Owens would be another place to look.

I suspect any decent vest will run around $250 and up.

Thanks @Rayers, it’s appreciated. I was hoping you would weigh in!

Thanks for the suggestion, @Benchmark. I had a look at the published Tipperary Eventer dimensions, and unfortunately the tall XL has a smaller chest circumference than the regular XL. If anything he’ll need larger!

I’m a fan of this vest myself, but it’s not well sized for a big guy. Thank you again!

Me. I’ll be the vest. Where do I sign up.

Have you checked out motorcycle vests ?;

Thanks for the suggestion, @Equibrit!

He did find an off the shelf solution. Tipperary has a newer protective vest with adjustable shoulders (velcro) and larger armholes that did the trick, size L. Interestingly the length was great, too.

The rating on this vest is ASTM F1937-04 | SEI Certified, same as the “Eventer Pro”.

Thanks to everyone who replied for your remarks…and for the laughs!
