I used to joke that horses are like potato chips, you can’t have just one … If I only knew LOL So my herd is growing. Right now I have 3 and I think we’re expecting a 4th in the Spring. It was bad enough bagging and taking out a 50 lb bale a day last winter for the 2 to eat. I’m looking to simplify my life this winter. This is where my query about Large bales comes in to focus.
I have the quick connect set up in the front of my tractor and I have a set of adjustable forks I can mount on it. Will this suffice to move them around?
Do you have a feeder that they sit in? If so what size is it? I’m going to build my own.
How do you control hay waste?
If the bales are kept under cover do they mold or spoil?
Are there advantages to this particular style/size? The hay in my area is sold by the ton regardless of the bale size unless you get compressed bales.
What else am I missing or not thinking of?
