Looking for info on all the large tack shops. I live in Eastern Pa, and the largest i know of nearby is The Horsemen’s Outlet. But i am wondering if there are bigger and better tack shops in America, and if so, where do you love to go? List your favorites!!
When I lived in Philly I shopped at Rick’s Heritage Saddlery.
Now, I have two small local stores that are great and a Dover under an hour away. If I need something that I want to buy in person instead of online that they don’t have, I shop at the horse shows.
Dover’s store in Plaistow NH is 4 floors. Their store in Branchburg NJ (not terribly far from SePA) is about 4000 sq feet. If a Dover store doesn’t have an item you want they can usually get it from another store or the warehouse. If you really want selection, expos like Equine Affair are amazing. Horse shows usually have lots of options but they are usually exclusively high end.
My favorite is Bartville Harness! I’m about halfway between the Dover and MD Saddlery in Butler and the Dover/ MD Saddlery in Hockessin so I hit both of them one or two times a year too. And we have a new small local one called Double A that is mostly consignment that I try to support-- I feel so bad for the poor girl, opening a tack shop would be hard enough in a good year. I try not to buy tack/ clothes new unless it is safety equipment or high impact stuff like stirrup leathers and girths,
I was at Broken Horn Saddlery many years ago —- they had three floors of stuff - I’ve never seen anything like this place. I wanted to camp there for the weekend:)
The Tackeria in Wellington has a huge stock. My favorite tack store.
the Tack Room in Camden SC is also really big, but actually doesn’t have the largest selection of tack IMO. They do have a great home furnishing section and used saddle area, plus a lot of jumps to drool over.
I just wish there was a tack store of any size near me :o
I am not looking for any one item, per say. I want to be surrounded by saddles, and tack, and other barn supplies. I want the feeling of being in a huge tack sho. I want hours to take my time and drool over all the STUFF!! Broken Horn is so far from me, but it looks amazing!!
well, around here there are more than one…
Teskey’s Saddle Shop in Weatherford TX keeps “over 1000 saddles, hundreds of bits and spurs, boots, clothing, Case knives, ranch and farm equipment and equine medical supplies, we are your one stop shop for all of your equestrian and western apparel needs. From the ranch to the rodeo”
https://teskeys.com/
Paul Taylor Saddle Company in Aurby, TX “Offering as many as 1,200 saddles, along with a wide variety of horse supplies, our business caters not only to professional horsemen but also to first time horse owners looking for one-stop shopping. We have something for everyone in our massive inventory”… when Paul was alive and there every day…he had a memory like an elephant… we would be in every now and then …Paul never ever failed to ask how our Morgans were doing. https://paultaylorsaddlecompany.com/about-us.aspx
(But I must say Mitch Waters, an owner of Master Made Feeds in Grapevine has always surprised me as it would be YEARS between visits and Mitch would see me, walk over to ask how our Morgans were doing… and I really am not an an unusual looking person, how they remember small details just shocks me)
There are more, just drive north on US377 from US380… saddle stores/farm ranch suppliers are still everywhere all the way to Whitesboro

In Locust Grove GA, Horse Town.
Oh MAN!! i was actually IN weatherford Tx a few years back!! I wish i had known!
Equine Exchange in Pottstown is fairly large compared to some others, but not massive, and has both consignment and new merchandise.
Saddlery Liquidators in Haymarket, VA is a big warehouse type store, although it’s a decent drive. I usually only stop there if I’m already in the area.
i have been to the Equine Exchange and i really like it.
Seconding @walkinthewalk for Broken Horn. I live in the area and it’s the best! They’ve got just a little bit over everything and the staff is super friendly. They’re under construction at the moment so some stuff is in the process of moving/not everything is as organized as it usually is. I go every couple of months because I always walk out of there with something. Off the top of my head you can find the following:
-Toys, books (everything from children’s books to training manuals), Breyers, jewelry, knives, and horse-themed home decor
-Entire second floor is Western clothing (boots, hats, jeans, and casual wear)
-Saddles (a few rooms of western saddles and maybe 20-30 English saddles)
-English riding clothing (both general and show clothing)
-Feed for both horse and general pets
-Barn supplies (buckets, muck forks, whips, etc.)
-Supplements, sprays, and roughly any grooming tool you can think of
-Actual horse tack
In addition to ALL of that, there is a saddle cleaning and repair shop and a silversmith on-premises.
