I got to visit last summer, and it is FULL of lovely stuff The only one that I’ve personally visited that might have been larger was the former Broken Horn Saddlery in LA that closed in 2021. Not sure if that was bigger, or if the layout was just so confusing that I kept getting lost between rooms/floors.
Oh… good point. I feel like I need to go there to confirm… you know, measure by hand. I should probably go to Europe too to measure some of those ones. Someone should sponsor me… I definitely won’t spend the money.
LOL A friend of mine works at Big Dee’s. Next time I’m there I’ll ask her whether she knows, or can estimate, how much of that square footage is retail space and how much is warehouse. The retail space is pretty big, but they do a huge mail order business, so the percentage of space that’s warehouse is probably large,
I’m local to Big Dees, my guess is the showroom is a quarter of the total square footage max…maybe a little smaller. The building used to be a Walmart. Their showroom is big, but not full Walmart big! They do more online business than in-store. In fact, they drive us locals crazy sometimes with their hours; only open until 5 and closed Sun/Mon. Not great for the 9-5ers.
Is this the same one that’s in Ocala right around the corner from WEC?
I just stopped in there the other day, and it did not really look that big to me. Unless they’re counting the other building that has western stuff in it as one business? I did not go in that one.
Strictly from eyeballing them, I would think the Tackeria and the Dover in Wellington are probably both bigger than the Tack Shack if they’re referring to the retail floor space.
Now and then they do an “after hours” shopping event (in-store only) when they stay open until 7:00. The next one is soon, March 19th. I wish they would be open on Sundays, but I doubt that will ever happen.
