So, every day I drive by a sign saying Tack Shack is the largest tack store in Florida. Which got me thinking; what is the largest tack store in the USA? How about the world?
I feel like it must be somewhere in Europe.
How big is Tack Shack? The just about half-way point on the 500 mile drive from my house to Mom’s house is Big-Ds, which lives in a former Wal-Mart southeast of Cleveland. It’s definitely the biggest tack shop I’ve seen.

The sign says 20,000 sq feet. But maybe Big Ds beats that?

Teskey’s Saddle Shop in Weatherford Texas is over 100,000 sq/ft under roof with over 1,000 saddles on display
It large but rather common place around here as there are several sizable saddles shops in north Texas. Paul Taylor’s in Aurbey often have over 1200 saddles in stock
The one common factor was the original the owners personal service, they seemed to never forget anything.
I believe Divoza in the Netherlands has 6 Megastores plus an on line division

It’s probably about 100K square feet or more. A new WallyWorld is from 100-200k sqft. There is a gigantic replacement WallyWorld a mile or so up the road, so this was jus a ‘big’ Walmart. 
The staff there has always been helpful. The bathrooms are always clean (huge deal since this a road trip stop) and they are happy to see the cats if I stop by in the summer and it’s too hot to leave them in the car.
Their online operation also works out of this building so if there is something you don’t see on the shelf, it’s probably in the warehouse and they are quick to look.

Maybe I went to the wrong Tack Shack but the one I went to was pretty small?

I don’t know how big the physical location is but, as a huge fan of buying used, I dream of visiting the Tack Collector in Calgary someday (has anyone ever been?).
This might be the largest one. Too bad it’s western and not English 
someone needs to open an English tack store that beats it in size. I’ll wait patiently

I really can’t watch him anymore. I did a few times, but some of his videos of his shopping extravaganzas etc, just turned me off. Glad I didnt see this one.

Tack Shack is great and they have expanded a bit and have the Western store, but it is not a huge store.
Square footage doesn’t always correlate to the number of products, SKUs, or quantity of each SKU stocked, though I’m sure there’s a correlation. Some places really do pack a lot in a smaller space.
- Dover Saddlery maintains approximately 25,000-30,000 SKUs according to Google.
- Epplejeck says they have “over 35,000 products”
- "Divoza has five shops spread throughout the country, which are between 1000 and 2000 square metres (10,764-21,528 sf) in size and some of which have attached riding arenas for adjusting the saddles, saddleries and embroidery and engraving studios. "

I love tack shack because they have a lot of variety, but I have wondered driving by if the sign is accurate. Even in Ocala the TT distributors building is probably bigger in square footage and it does have tack (though a lot of the footage is empty space because they have big isles) And Tackeria in Wellington is pretty large too.
Maybe I’ll have to start google earth measuring 
So, after spending a whole 10 minutes researching this I can declare that Big Dee’s Tack in Ohio is the largest tack store in the world. Congratulations to them, I’m sure they are thrilled some random person on the internet has bestowed this award on them.

It’s my garage… and my car trunk. I’m convinced it’s one of the largest options for things that I don’t need but some equestrian might!
