Laser Acupuncture for cough?

My old man, who has previously been diagnosed with pasture induced heaves, is coughing again. It’s been two years at the new barn and I was hoping the cough would continue to stay away.
I’ve done a month of Zyrtec, but it did nothing as expected.

I’m having a struggle to get a vet out because they are so busy and I work about an hour away.

While I am waiting for an appointment I had a friend offer to do laser acupuncture to help.

From what I can tell the worst it could do is nothing. But, I don’t really know enough about it to know if it would even help.

Has anyone had this done before?

It’s possible it will help.
Depends upon the friend’s skill at selecting points.
If she’s merely treating the symptoms (i.e., the cough), it’s less likely to “work” than if she treats the pattern producing the symptom.

Help is all I really expect until I can get the vet out. Poor thing coughs even at the walk.

I’ve had really good luck w Respire by HorseTech. I’ve been able to avoid emerg calls for a few years now on my heaves mare when I see her starting to show labored breathing. Usually just one dose calms it down. And both my horses crave this stuff. My new guy has a cough here and there and they both open their mouths for syringing.

You just mix it in water and syringe in. So easy.

That’s really interesting! I wish there was a way to get like a sample size so I don’t commit $65 to something that might not work!

I’d think they’d send you a sample. Contact them and ask and if they don’t I’ll send you a couple scoops.
Let me know.

They will send you a sample if you ask. They also have a money back guarantee for any of their stock products (or at least they used to). I think it smells kind of like curry, but the horse I used it for thought it was delicious!

Thanks guys! I’ve messaged them to see if I can get the sample!

Probably from the turmeric.
