Leather Boots for the Horse

I need the greatness of COTH shopping gurus!

I am trying to find leather eventing boots (full coverage), preferably with buckles, for hunting. I want the full coverage over the canon bone because in a previous season, my mare hit her hind canon bone on a rock and chipped her bone. I know we traditionally do not hunt in leg wraps, and I did not do so with my draft, but my TB is another matter… In my hunt, leg boots are acceptable, as long as they are leather and buckled (no velcro).

I am currently riding in premier eventing boots, but they are not appropriate attire. I am a staff member and we try very hard to have proper turn out for respect for our members and our landowners. I could possibly black out all the color on the premier boots, but would prefer to get leather.

I like the Sabre leather boots, but can’t find them this side of the pond (I am in the US). I tried to order them from a Canadian retailer, but they were out of stock and hadn’t updated their web site. I also ordered the leather brushing boots from VTO, but they are not long enough to cover the bone, they look more like splint boots.

I need them for a 16hh refined TB, both front and hinds.

Any leads? Please, COTH, work your magic!!

Sabre will ship to the US! All of my bridles (including hunt bridle!) and boots are by Sabre, and they are very helpful when ordering (and accept paypal).

and they quote you in dollars (just change the currency).

I very much appreciate the element of correct turnout and respect for the hunt and the land owner BUT leather boots are a pain to look after and they don’t necessarily provide better protection for the horse. There is a reason why most riders have moved to synthetic materials!
