Leather halters

Sorry to dredge up a zombie thread, but for show halters, is there a particular Quillins anyone likes for the H/J scene? My “show/barn halter” (not showing), just got turned into a turnout after the last one went kaput. Am looking for something nice and somewhat affordable. I ride Jumpers and prefer simple and classy.

So the website is much fancier than when I ordered mine, but this is what I have:

Their sale halter is the nice one you want. Their track halter is very heavy duty and it specifically says in the description it’s not a daily use kind of halter.

You can fully customize as well, including sizes of specific pieces if needed. I wouldn’t call it affordable, it’s fairly expensive, but it’s absolutely 100% worth every single penny. Their halters blow every other super popular halter maker out of the water. I will never buy another brand of leather halter after having this one. It was incredibly soft and pliable right out of the package.

This is mine, 16.2hh OTTB gelding with a smaller/finer head, he’s wearing the Small Mare size. We’ve been doing the jumpers for the last ~4ish years but are switching back to eventing next year.

I use mine every single day and also for shows, and it still looks and feels incredible.

Thank you! I glimpsed $87.95, but didn’t realize size and other options added on to price. My last “show” halter was $75, but I wasn’t impressed with the quality, I’m willing to pay more for it to be nice, but I don’t want to shell out $150-200. Looks like this fits the bill. Thanks for the review!

Take a look at Tack Shack of Ocala as well - I love their halters as much as the Quillins, and they have an option for thread color if you like that (my show halter is a Walsh with white stitching and I love it). Another possibility is Remarkable Leather Goods. I haven’t seen their halters (full up LOL) but just got a girth from them and the leather is gorgeous. They’re also very nice to deal with (as are the others).

I found Albrights to be great quality and much less expensive.

I got my last halter from Remarkable Leather Goods and really love the quality. They often run sales for free nameplates too

Yes their halters are lovely! And great customer service too.

Albright’s is my go-to as well. Less impressed with Tack Shack of Ocala.
