Leathers with no buckle under the thigh

Back again with yet another dressage shopping question!
Is there any sort of name anyone could think of to google the type of leathers that have the buckles by the stirrup? I’d rather not have the Webbers.
Or better yet, does anyone have ones they like or know of what brand carries this style? Or where I could fnd some?
The stores here seem to only carry the Antares for $240. Great… if I were worth it! But I’m not  Need to find something more budget-y.
Thanks!!

ETA- sorry I do know they are sometimes called ‘mono’ when they are of one thickness, and of course the Webbers. Any other call/stye names?

I only know of the Wintec, Wintec Pro, and Bates Webbers. I personally would just get the Pro, they are pretty nice

I have the webbers, and I have to say… I really like them. The leather is soft, yet durable. They don’t stretch out, and they clean up nice.

I think wintec has another style called “Pro” something… a little cheaper, but the same style.

I’ve had mine for over a year now, and they’re going strong.

The Wintec Webbers are the regular equileather synthetic material.
The Wintec Pro Webbers are the equisuede material like the Wintec Pro and Isabell saddles.
The Bates are, of course, leather

You used to be able to buy the little leather cuffs that would allow you to convert your stirrup leathers, any stirrup leathers, to the bottom-buckle type. I have a pair made by Cliff Barnsby, and I’d love to get another, since I have black and need brown. Anyone know who still makes these?

I believe they are at Dover.

I use both those cuffs and the Wintec-style leathers… like them both, though the second makes it impossible to run your stirrups up properly.

The ones I have have an upper hole so you can buckle the leather up there and then run the stirrup up.

Oh a cuff, yes I woulnd’t mind one of those! Again, noone here has them… I wonder if I’ll have to get leathers/cuff made somewhere.
Maybe once I get the saddle reflocked (assuming I buy it) it’ll magically eliminate the problem? (hahaha I wish).

I’ve had Webbers… they’re fine… just not what I’m looking for.

I know Bates used to do them… Stubben does (but only in Europe and also over $200)… Antares are over $200… a lot fo companies used to do them… I’ve never had a problem with a buckle before :frowning:

Bates and Wintec are the same company, so they call them webbers as well

How about these?

Gary Mundy occasionally has these for sale on ebay. I have a pair that he made for me…nice thick single straps with a leather sleeve that covers a rather largeish buckle at the bottom. He custom made mine and they were very reasonable (plus he custom embossed my initials on the covers). If you’ll search under “single strap stirrup leathers” or “strap leathers” you may find them (I searched just now but didn’t find anything at the moment.) He doesn’t always have them on ebay, so you may have to keep checking. PM me if you want his contact info.

I like the ones Gary made…but for whatever reason, the particular buckle he uses bothers my left leg…don’t even notice it with right leg, just the left, and I could never really get used to it. I keep them as a spare now and have gone back to the Bates leather webbers. Love both of them!

Prestige makes a nice pair, which you can get at www.vtosaddlery.com

I’ve seen the Stubben ones at a tack shop near me, I have no idea of the price though. You could call them and find out - www.saddlersrow.com
I have the Wintec Pro webbers and love them.

Couldn’t find them on the Dover website - any other suggestions, anyone?
I would REALLY like another pair!

I just pull the buckle down to the bottom of the leather (regular), near the stirrups and ride like that. I tried the Wintec ones, but they are a pain to adjust, can’t run your stirrups up, and kind of bothered my ankles.

Dressage Extensions has Bates and Wintec:

Dover webbers:

I did find these Wintec Webber Buckle Covers:

Dunno if they would fit over regular buckles or not.

Still looking 'cause I want some, too.

Dressage Extensions also has the Kavalcade, which I think I’m going to buy. $59.95 I can handle.

Thanks everyone! I like the ones at Dressage Extensions, but shipping to Canada is going to kill me (on principle… I may end up with them).

I found these too.
At first I thought, at tht price, they must be sstiff/thick/Indian, but then I noticed they were nylon lined. Can you get cheap nylon lined? Or are these maybe nice?

It seems like you could use your regular leathers and get those wintec buckle covers? Or just make something out of black vinyl and velcro

I don’t understand this. I’ve used Webbers for years, and wouldn’t if I couldn’t run my stirrups up. There is a hole up at the top of the Webber. You un"buckle" your Webber, re-“buckle” it through that hole that’s up high, and run your stirrup up. It’s pretty simple, really.
