Has anyone used these two supplements for PREVENTION not treatment of ulcers. I noticed there are many very expensive supplements that are basically just pectin and lecithin (starting gate, egusin, smart pak ultra) I have read if you give 1/2 cup lecithin and 2 tablespoons apple pectin it can help prevent ulcers if NSAID are needed. Just curious if anyone has experience with this.
I used them post treatment on my gelding…worked OK, but 4 oz of aloe vera juice with 2 tsp of slippery elm bark powder in his evening bucket (gets meds in his a.m. bucket) has worked much better, and is much less expensive. He’s been getting the avj+ slippery elm since last June, and has been eating great since and had no ulcer symptoms at all Cost to do the avj and slippery elm bark runs about $11 a month.
