Hi, I looked on the website for Legacy of Legends which was held in Las Vegas in 2013…and the schedule and details are not posted for 2014, altho the dates are listed. Was wondering if anyone has attended and can fill me in…I would need to plan well ahead of time - and would like to know what the highlights were in 2013, how big a crowd, can you see/hear clinics that are held, how accessible are the saddle makers, tack makers etc. What was the admission costs, and how far south from the strip is it? I would most likely stay on the strip and take a bus or ??? to the event. Opinions pls? Thx.
I have gone the last 2 years. The best way to go is to stay at Southpoint. Everything is under one roof and the equestrian center is just a few minutes down the hall from your room, restaurants, and the casino. They will have a package deal posted pretty soon. If you want to go to the strip there is a shuttle from Southpoint that drops folks to Excalibur/Mandalay Bay. It is far enough to be a pricey cab ride, maybe 10-15 miles from the strip? It is a huge facility with the tack vendors up on the concourse. Everything is very accessible and it is an intimate kind of deal for horsemen committed to the teachings of Ray Hunt. The sound is great and last year they even had the video screen going above the arena. We like to sit right down in front above the roundpen for the colt starting. There isn’t a bad seat. Maybe 500-800 people or so? I’m not a good judge of that kind of thing. The event is expensive because it is a fundraiser for Buck and Carolyn’s youth scholarship fund. I think tickets last year were $250? I can’t remember if that included your hotel room. We will definitely be there again this year!
Um…I’m pretty sure they’re doing it in Australia this year!
Oh, hey, wait…they’re doing it in Australia AND Las Vegas, since I last checked.
I’ll get there one of these years, we’re calving in February.
