I am wondering if there are any legal boots like grab boots that can be used in dressage? My horse needs to start wearing front shoes, but he pulls them within a few minutes of the start of a ride. I know the rules state no boots that touch the hair, so bell boots are out. Does anyone know if grab boots are permitted, or work, or anything else that is permitted and will work?
Just have your farrier fit him tight and warm up with bell boots and have them removed once he goes into the ring. If he’s pulling shoes within minutes every single time he’s ridden without boots, you’ve got a problem.

I believe the rule about not touching hair is meant to allow the Sigafoos type glue on shoes that include a partial cast on the foot. You can email USEF for a final ruling but pretty sure no grab boots are legal. Maybe have the heels dremelled on the shoes as well?
